Rose, Rosa doesn't work, use Rosanna Lee?

Love Rose and Rosa but it doesn't go with surname :(

Would you use Rosanna?

Haven't had a great reaction about Rosanna. I also don't love the "Sanna" part. I would hope that everyone would call her Rose but understand that you can't control nicknames so feel quite stuck :(

Rosalie?

Rosalie?

Surname is Lee.

So Rosalie Lee wouldn't work

Rosalie and Rosabelle are two alternatives.

If they are both shortened to Rosie or Rose, would this present the same issues with your surname as if you just went with Rose from the outset?

Overthebow · 23/07/2023 22:54

If Rose doesn’t go with your surname why are you hoping everyone would call her Rose?

noglow · 23/07/2023 22:55

If you want everyone to call her Rose call her Rose

Rosanna would be on official documents etc.... but Rose as an everyday nickname

People would just say Rose Lee anyway though, they my not even know her full name. I’d steer clear and go for something different altogether.

Rose Lee is fine, as is Rosa Lee (I think that's great actually).
Do not like Rosanna Lee.

Yetanotherusername2 · 23/07/2023 22:58

They will all boil down to Rose Lee = Rosie Lee = tea

Not the worst, but a bit silly sounding. I wouldn't.

SoftSheen · 23/07/2023 22:59

Rosamund Lee

DragonDoor · 23/07/2023 22:59

Rosalind Lee
Rosalyn Lee

MagratsDanglyCharms21 · 23/07/2023 23:00

Yep... Rosie Lee...cuppa tea! Rhyming slang

Unexpecteddrivinginstructor · 23/07/2023 23:00

What about Primrose? Slightly different but you could still shorten to Rose. I think the Rosy Lee link is slightly less obvious with Primrose.

would you think that about Rosa Lee?

The gypsy Rose Lee/ tea thing is what is putting us off

No rosie lee is rhyming slang

gogomoto · 23/07/2023 23:03

I'd go with a different flower if you like flower names

howmanytimesagain · 23/07/2023 23:04

Nothing wrong with it

Similar options

Rozallyn
Marie Rose
Roselle
Rosiah

Although PP saying primrose is lovely

Rosalind Lee
Rosalyn Lee

we've considered Rosalyn but just not sure if it would get pronounced how we'd want.

I like Rosa-lin but I think the general consensus is Roz-a-lin

I might be a bit odd as I quite liked your previous idea of Leah Lee - I think since Leelee is used as a girls name (I think there's a few US Celebs or their kids called it), that there's nothing wrong with Leah Lee. I do love an alliterative name though, they stand out in a good way imo and "Lee -ah- Lee" sounds nice and lyrical too (I probably wouldn't do just "Lee-Lee" in the UK in case a kid mishears it as "wee- wee" though😂). Would you consider Leia "Lay-ah" or is it too Star Wars?

To answer about Rosanna though, I think it's pretty. I slightly prefer just Rose or just Anna for their classic simplicity but I understand why they may be no go's with your surname (I couldn't have used my fave girls name for the same reason) - but Rosanna is a lovely name nonetheless and a 3 syllable first name does have a nice elegant "flow" with a one syllable surname like Lee too.

It doesn't make sense to me that you would be happy for your dd to be known in everyday life as Rose Lee as long as Rose is a diminutive of a longer 'official' name, but unhappy for her to be actually named Rose Lee.

Honestly, name her Rose if you really want a Rose. Rosie Lee (whether Gypsy or a cuppa) is not an offensive association so I don't think it would matter.

I see your point.

Obviously her name would be Rosanna outside of the home. So I doubt she'll be know as Rose Lee it would always be Rosanna Lee.

I think in going to have to think on it as the name clearly presents issues.

Posy or Posey or Posie is an English given name derived from the English term for a small flower bouquet.

midlifecd · 23/07/2023 23:48
