Rose, Rosa doesn't work, use Rosanna Lee?

Love Rose and Rosa but it doesn't go with surname :(

Would you use Rosanna?

Haven't had a great reaction about Rosanna. I also don't love the "Sanna" part. I would hope that everyone would call her Rose but understand that you can't control nicknames so feel quite stuck :(

Op I'd go back to the drawing board.
No matter what combination you come up with it sounds like gypsy Rose Lee fortune teller.

Maybe use Rose as a middle name..

What about Roisin?

love Roisin, but thr fact that most people will spell and prounce it wrong puts me off

Rosie Lee reminds me of a fortune teller on a pier sorry !

Findyourneutralspace · 24/07/2023 00:03

Really? I know three Roisins and people seem to be able to get their head around it. I’m not in Ireland btw. It’s a bit like Niamh in that respect. Maybe it’s just where I’m from though. It’s a lovely name.

This - in fact I had my palm read by Gypsy Rosa Lee once!

notacooldad · 24/07/2023 00:04

The gypsy Rose Lee/ tea thing is what is putting us off
I'm not suprised.
I'd go for a completely different name altogether in your shoes.

UpendedPineapple · 24/07/2023 00:12

Primrose?

3luckystars · 24/07/2023 00:17

Roisin. Pronounced Ro Sheen.

it means little Rose

Findyourneutralspace · 24/07/2023 00:21

And you can use little Rose as a nickname

lingmerth · 24/07/2023 00:45

Roseanne?

Escapingafter50years · 24/07/2023 00:46

"Surname is Lee.

So Rosalie Lee wouldn't work"

Sorry OP, I assumed Lee was a possible middle name! But actually can't see what's wrong with Rosa Lee seeing as Rosalie is an actual name?
Btw I know a couple of Rosannas, they're both generally called Rosie.

The main concern we have about Rosa Lee is that it sounds exactly like Rosalie.

It seems like she doesn't have a surname.

Honestly though as time is going on I am really wondering whether or not that is a deal breaker or whether we should just go for it

I work with a Roisin (she is irish) and it is always misspelled, occasionally new people struggle with the pronunciation when they 1st meet her but do quickly get it once told.

I've never met another one. It is quite uncommon around me.

The tea/fortune teller thing would be a dealbreaker for me. Lee is a cool surname. There's loads of great girls names that would go with it. I wouldn't go anywhere near the Rose/Rosa/Rosie minefield and go pick something else.

GoodVibesHere · 24/07/2023 06:53

Rosetta?

I'd just choose a different name to be honest.

borntobequiet · 24/07/2023 06:57

Rosemary is a lovely name that seems to have fallen out of favour.

tenbob · 24/07/2023 06:59

Rosamund?

But I’m with others who say if it works for her day to day name, it is fine for her formal name

I go by a shortening of my name (Kate vs Katherine), and it’s my work and personal email, it’s how I introduce myself, it’s how I book hotels and restaurants

On the rare occasions someone finds out it’s a shortening, such as when they see my passport, they always say ‘oh I didn’t realise you were Katherine’

I think it could be the same for your daughter, especially if you are calling her Rose from day one

lemonyellows · 24/07/2023 06:59

Rosina is pretty

PistachioGelato · 24/07/2023 07:01

Rose
Rosa
Rosmary
Rosalina
Primrose
Rosetta
Roisin
Rosebud
Wildrose

I like just Rose to be honest op....

Rose Lee is fine, as is Rosa Lee (I think that's great actually).
Do not like Rosanna Lee.

This

Sugarfree23 · 24/07/2023 07:08

Op thinking of alternatives to Rose / Rosa
what about Zara or Laura.

WimpoleHat · 24/07/2023 07:09

I hate to say it, but there are some names that are just a no go with some surnames - and with Lee, that’s Rose or Rosie! (Similarly, if you’re Brown you don’t choose Charlie and you don’t call your son James if your surname’s Bond). I think you need to pick something else. You’ve got an incredibly wide choice, as Lee is a surname that works well with most names.

IDontLikeMondays88 · 24/07/2023 07:10

What about Rosalind

Ducksurprise · 24/07/2023 07:13

I'm not keen on hyphens but this is one that would solve the issue

Rosa-Grace Lee is my favourite

Rose-Sarah Lee

Rose-Juliet Lee

Actually I like Juliet Lee. I do get why it is a tricky surname

Diddykong · 24/07/2023 07:13

Beatrice so she can be Bea Lee
