What do you think of Wren for a boys name?
We live in the UK and haven’t met anyone with the name.

is the name Wren more for girls?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I think its a very feminine name that doesn't work well for boys.

BlowDryRat · 20/07/2023 21:10

Wren is definitely a girl's name IME. How about Robin instead?

Coronationstation · 21/07/2023 16:02

One my colleagues has a boy called Wren. I have to say I assumed he was a girl! I don’t particularly like it for either though.

otherwayup · 21/07/2023 16:12

Life is hard enough for teenage boys, being called Wren would be a nightmare at secondary school 😳

RitzyMcFitzy · 21/07/2023 16:17

Wren is going to be one of those trendy names that dates quickly, like Jody. Jody was/is predominantly a girls' name but you find the odd male Jody in circulation.

DustyLee123 · 21/07/2023 16:18

Definitely a girls name.

Wren can be used for either.
I think of Christopher Wren, the famous architect.
I also think of the beautiful Blue Wren bird connection.
There is also L'Wren Scott, the late fashion designer and model.
I prefer Wren to be used as a second name.

DH watches a YouTube channel where one of the presenters (a VFX artist) is called Wren.

I think it's a lovely name, for either sex.

Wren birds are small but incredibly LOUD!

Belleandlou · 22/07/2023 14:43

No don't do it. And there's so many around now if this forum is anything to go by- there's a fair chance he'll have a girl wren or two at school which would be awful for him. It's a fad and they never go well.

HewasH20 · 22/07/2023 20:21

Wren was the architect's surname. You're suggesting the equivalent of calling the poor child Smith or Brown as a first name.

I would love to know what the posters who endorse the quirky suggestions on MN actually call their own DC. Probably Edward and Florence.

What's wrong with normal, human names for children?

The world is your oyster, for naming your son, and Wren is what you land on?

I'd say girls name
Little Jenny Wren.

Go with Ren and buy him a lightsaber.
