What do you think of Wren for a boys name?
We live in the UK and haven’t met anyone with the name.

is the name Wren more for girls?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Girls name to me, I wouldn't. It might be cute on a toddler but I couldn't imagine a teenage boy named after a Jenny wren.

Pinkrosepetals · 20/07/2023 13:08

Traditionally softer/ feminine sounding names are becoming fashionable for boys - Sasha, Luca, Wren etc. So on trend and he won’t feel out of place among peers. Robin is a sweet garden bird but lots of parents are starting to use this name again, I don’t see a difference. Use it! If everyone followed the same Freddie, Leo, Max script life would be boring.

It's a nice surname. Dreadful as a first name. Lovely birds but tiny and loud.

This is my name and that's actually a good description of me 😂

pambeeslyhalpert2 · 20/07/2023 14:13

I know a boy Wren whose American but lives in the UK, then I know 2 girl wrens. I think of a girl when I hear it

Pumpkinlady · 20/07/2023 14:16

I think it's unisex with a more feminine lean.

I prefer Ren, love it for a boy. But I've only actually heard that as a name in Footloose or Ren & Stimpy 😳
Could be a nickname for Lorenzo x

Jongleterre · 20/07/2023 14:24

Nice nickname for a girl called Serendipity but an awful first name
Die a boy.

He'll be called Jenny at school.

I am not sure an adult man named after a dainty little garden bird works.

Agree, a strapping six footer with big manly arms, called Wren , would be unfortunate.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 20/07/2023 14:38

If you want a bird, why not Robin?

ploopypleepy · 20/07/2023 14:46

I know a boy wren , it's nice !

It's definitely a girl's name in the UK

51 Boys in 2021
279 Girls in 2021

According to Darker Green

But to be honest first and foremost it's a kitchen brand.

First and foremost, it's a bird.

ErrolTheDragon · 20/07/2023 14:58

First and foremost, it's a bird.

A noisy little Jenny Wren.
There are better names for a boy.

Have you considered Howden?

Nellie90 · 20/07/2023 15:22

I have a friend who has a little boy called Wren. REALLY not a fan of the name for a boy.

Maybe Robin instead?

KayEmAy · 20/07/2023 15:44

I prefer it as a boys name :)

sugarkillingme · 20/07/2023 15:47

Try Oren.

Pronounced the ren as Wren rather than how the Americans might say the name as Or-en.

Backtothe90splease · 20/07/2023 15:48

I know a girl Wren and struggle to picture it on a boy.

HowNice23 · 20/07/2023 15:50

😂

greglet · 20/07/2023 15:50

I know a male teenage Wren who goes by Peter 🤷‍♀️

Mummyme87 · 20/07/2023 15:51

At my sons cycling there’s a Wren, he’s a boy. I quite like it. Added it to my boy name list

shoopshoopdedoo · 20/07/2023 19:43

I know two - both toddler girls. I didn’t know it was also used for boys. I’m not especially keen on it as a name for either sex.

HewasH20 · 20/07/2023 19:48

How will "Wren" feel about his name when he's going through puberty? It's awful.

Emmamoo89 · 20/07/2023 20:07

Don't like it for a boy

Herefornames · 20/07/2023 20:09

Wren feels like such a non name

ChickenSoupAndLokshen · 20/07/2023 20:18

I know a Ren, short for Warren.

PickledScrump · 20/07/2023 20:40

To me it’s a girls name
