I think it's really nice.
Would have been on my list for DD2 but I already had a Charlotte and personally didn't want a Charlotte and a Scarlett!

Love it, I wanted to use it if I ever have a DD, but told SIL about it and she has nicked it if she has a girl (due in May). fingers crossed she has a boy, and I have a girl someday soon!

my dd is called Scarlett. She's 6. She loves it and I love it and it really suits her. Its great to be the only Scarlett in a school!

I know quite a few baby / young Scarletts so as long as you dont mind it potentially being quite popular. I love the name.

No, what will you shorten it to?

Makes me think of Four weddings, I like it.

I love it. Wanted it for DD but we had agreed that DS1 could choose.
I wanted Scarlett Honey so I could stand on the front porch and call her with that accent.

I teach a Scarlett, and her friends call her Scarty......or Scarlett O'Hara

It's a great name (but not with our surname).
One of dd's friends (age 2) is called this. Why are some of you obsessed with what you'd shorten it to? You don't need to shorten it - it's only 2 syllables FFS!

Unfortunately, cantsleepwontsleep, its not us adults/parents who shorten it. It will be her friends & 'Scar' is just not nice

my friend has a 6mo Scarlett.

she is known as Letty.

I have a Scarlett Bibi and a Honey Neve.

Scarlett is the most fiery child you have ever met. Imagined that she would have dark hair when she was born like my dp. Instead she has blonde ringlets.

Honey is a little ginger nut.

I have a Scarlett and when we told our PILs that it was the name we were planning to use, their very first question is "what are you going to shorten it to?" Aargh! Nothing - if we had wanted a short name, we would have given her one! Nobody has attempted to shorten it yet, but then she is only just two. Never even considered any other girl's names - it's still my absolute favourite .

branflake81 · 03/03/2008 10:49

It's OK but I think it would only suit someone with red hair. Also, how do you know if your child is going to be firey?

I've got a Scarlett. 22 months and a force of nature. Dark curls, green eyes. We took nearly 2 weeks to name her, tried all the names on our shortlist. Then my mum said Scarlett as I really liked it as a child and it seemed perfect. Trouble is DD2 was even more difficult to name cause we had to find something of equal weight. She is Roberta or Bobby which I'm not so sure about now...

I love it! It is very bold, but a great name. (files it away for possible future use, if pigs fly and such like...)
