Help - different boy's names

monkeysmama · 25/02/2008 17:42

Okay so we've bought the books (yes plural) and actually read them and nothing has grabbed us so far. We have a list of girls names we both really like - each one a bit different. But without actually finding out (decided not too after MUCH debate)sure it is a boy and have no ideas on names at all.

  1. We want something different - we both have unusual names and are pleased we do.
  2. We don't want anything chavvy.
  3. An Italian name would be good (Italian ancestors)
  4. Nothing that will sounds stupid pronounced with strong London accents
  5. I like the letter "E" - Elijah, Elliot, Ezekiel are some of my favourites but DP has vetoed them all.

Any suggestions very gratefully received!

Vittorio? Think English version is Victor. Sorry if said already as havent read whole thing. Agree D'Agostino is usually a surname.

tandos · 06/03/2008 00:10

I like Joshua, and Josh for short

naturopath · 06/03/2008 00:32

Elia (an alternative of Elijah in the Bible)

Elio (I know someone with this name - always sounds pretty cool to me)

Allesandro (also know someone called this - he's called Alex in England sometimes)

pigwilts · 20/03/2008 01:02

FRIEND OF MINE CALLED HER SON WADE ,I FOR ONE HAD NEVER HEARD IT BEFORE SO MUST BE UNUSUAL

devonsmummy · 20/03/2008 20:24

My DH is called called Wade

MadameCh0let · 20/03/2008 23:01

What about Bruno? I know it's not Italian, but I bet it would sound good with an Italian sur name. If anybody tells you it's a dogs name you can say it's a saints name actually. (Not that I usually care about that!).

SoMuchToBits · 20/03/2008 23:09

This is not Italian, but I have been doing a lot of family history research lately, and we have several people in the family called Ozias (it apparently means "the Lord is strength").

It is unusual, and not currently popular. on the other hand, you may think I am mad for suggesting it. But I quite like it.

dizzychixies · 20/03/2008 23:13

has anyone mentioned
Dante
Matteo

sorry if they have, its late and I'm tired

itsahardknocklife · 20/03/2008 23:14

I like the name Dante. There was a kid called that on Waterloo Road.

dizzychixies · 20/03/2008 23:15

my friend nearly used it but now has a luca
she's considering Rocco, Rufus of Rapheal for this one

BigBadMouse · 20/03/2008 23:20

I would like to call our DS1 Ephram but have only 8 weeks left to convince DH and he won't budge .

It's not exactly Italian but it does begin with E. Can also be spelt Ephrem or Ephraim btw.

itsahardknocklife · 20/03/2008 23:22

Rufus I don't like. Our neighbours have a very annoying dog called Rufus. I know someone who's son is called Rufus and he doesn get picked on because of his name.
Rapheal is nice - a bit different without being weird. Rocco makes me think of Madonna.

TreeHuggerMum1 · 20/03/2008 23:24

Go for a good Welsh name like Evan!

dizzychixies · 20/03/2008 23:24

rufus I think is because she likes rufus wainwright
rocco makes me think of madonna too but hey, its her choice so who am I to mention it, she has said the same herself but doesn't seem to be bothered
