'Formal ' versions of Evie...or any other ideas?

I'm due in 6 weeks and don't know whether having a boy or a girl. We've decided on a boy's name we both like but are stuck for a girl's name.

I really like the name Evie (though i think it's a bit more popular than i'd like) but would rather give her a more 'formal' version and use Evie as a nickname. I had thought of Evelyn (pronounced Eve-lin) but am worried that that spelling/pronunciation is the male version of the name (as in Evelyn Waugh). Also my MIL's best friend has that name and she's a bit sour faced so my husband's less keen on it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

We had sort of decided on Lucy but a friend has recently used that name so having to re-think.

Also any other suggestions for nice, normal, not overly popular names for girls? Sorry, i'm being lazy, but have spent the last 34 weeks (and the rest) thinking about this and am getting fed up with it!

I used to lnow a girl called Evelina (pronounced ever leena) I think its an eastern European name.

Or just Eve, with Evie as nn. Other suggestions are good though.

You know I'd never thought of just caling her Eve! Had been thinking of longer first names, but Eve might work well.

I don't think that you need to worry about the male version-I can't see it making a come-back for a boy.I know a little girl called Evelyn but she is always called Evie which seems very pretty.

Evie is a great name. My great aunt-in-law named Evie died a week ago aged 99 hence my new name. It's nice that such an old name is coming back into fashion.

I also like Celia, although this still has yet to become popular again.

i love Eve or Eva. Both very classy names indeed and Evie is a cute shortening.

My middle name is Evelyn, which was also my grandfathers middle name. If I have a girl she will be called Evelyn, and shortened to Evie. I think it's lovely, as long as people don'r pronounce it Ever-lyn, annoying!
