Harley - boy or girl?

In your opinion is Harley a boys name or a girls name? & where abouts are you from (if you don't mind sharing)

Written on a register I would assume boy but wouldn't be supfised by the person being a girl.
Mostly because I have met a few boys and men with the name but Harley Quinn is pretty famous

I know a teenage boy Harley. His dad is into motorbikes.

Because motorbikes = boys?

Personally neither, I don't like the name.

Our neighbour has a Harley motorbike though.

Either imo, though the only one I actually know is a female in her late 20s. Her mum is a biker so it was after the motorbike.

Either. Comedy eye-rolling name for either a boy or girl only used by parents who think they're a bit edgy but are SO not. Please don't call your child Harley. And I'm from a family of bikers and we would all laugh at someone called Harley. Even if they're a lovely person. Which I'm sure your child may very well be.

Adult neice is Harley so girls name to me. And is as far from bikers as you can get.

I quite like it, but prefer it for a girl. I’m quite old, and have lived in various places in the North of England.

Agatha Christie had a male character, Harley Quinn.

I think it suits a girl but is unisex. Same for Marley, I know a boy and a girl with this name.

I know one boy and one girl, South West. To me, it’s like River or Blake and can really suit both sexes.

It’s a bike

… so it’s naff either way. Marginally less for a boy I suppose.

Thankyou for the different perspective, I guess it doesn't relate to bikes at all for me because I am not into bikes and tbh would know what the bike even looks like.
But I can understand to someone who is in to bikes that it may seem silly.

Looking at the rest of the thread it seems that lots of people can't separate the name and the bike. I can't. Bikers would only laugh kindly anyway, and probably with a good pinch of respect. So, changed my mind, you call your child Harley if you want to. Unless your surname is Davidson of course.

I see it as a neutral name - though I prefer it for and know more girls with it :)

The girl I know was named Harley after the motorbikes, her dad had one.
