Just that really... which do you prefer? What do either name make you think of... etc...

Georgiana is lovely. There is also Georgia.

Manthide · 02/07/2023 07:30

I love Georgia but I think it depends if you'll going to use the full name or something like Georgie. I prefer Georgiana though it is more likely to be misspelt and mis pronounced.

Lottylove · 02/07/2023 11:26

I know a Georgiana, everyone pronounced it slightly differently and she has to spell it out constrain the phone

OopsieeDaisy · 02/07/2023 14:17

I like Georgiana, it’s prettier than Georgina but I prefer Georgia to both.

PurpleAirGuitar · 02/07/2023 18:03

I wouldn't use Georgiana nowadays just because I have recently found out that some people think it's pronounced George-AY-na (which is not at all what the letters in the right order spell) whereas I still think it should be George-ee-AH-na like it always used to be. I might just consider using Georgina (if I didn't already have a DS with George as one of his names) but I actually think Georgette is the nicest name in the whole bunch.

ScattyGinger · 02/07/2023 19:12

Georgiana is a great name! An absolutely fabulous! The best name! It might even be my name. 😆 It does need correcting a lot but to honest unless it's someone I'm going to know for a while, medical records or someone's being rude to me I'm happy to go by Georgina as well.

2chocolateoranges · 15/09/2023 21:16

I prefer Jessica as I like Jess as a nickname.

im not a fan of Jenni/Jenny and Jennifer will ultimately get shortened to that.

Sheeniejay · 15/09/2023 21:23

I know it's not exactly answering the OP question but I think Georgie is a lovely name for a girl. Or even George. Perhaps that's my naive hope that we can be gender fluid with names.

TeamSleep · 15/09/2023 21:26

I prefer the sound of the name Georgiana but I think spelling it would be a bit of a nightmare and it’s a bit of a mouthful to say, so for that reason I’d go with Georgina. They’re both lovely names though.

user1846385927482658 · 15/09/2023 21:30

No idea how you're supposed to say Georgiana.

Fishandchipsatthebeach · 15/09/2023 21:33

Georgina

KirstenBlest · 15/09/2023 21:45

@user1846385927482658 , me neither. I thought it was Jorjaina or Jorjana but I think people say Georgie-A(r)na
Georgina seems less complicated

CarolinaInTheMorning · 15/09/2023 21:53

I like them both (especially if Georgiana is pronounced Geor-jane-a), but I prefer Georgina. It's a beautiful name.

Baaaaaa · 15/09/2023 21:54

Strong Georgiana preference. Very Duchess of Devonshire. Much prettier to look at. Pronounced Geoge-jane-a. Georgie is cute too.

Lantyslee · 15/09/2023 21:58

Georgiana is dreadful - far too fussy. I much prefer Georgina.

Querypost · 15/09/2023 21:59

Georgiana sounds rather pretentious to me. I don't like 4 syllable names as they are too fussy IMO. All her friends will probably call her Georgie anyway I suppose.

Marcipex · 15/09/2023 21:59

Geor-jay-na is correct. It isn’t Georgy-arna.

ClusterFukt · 15/09/2023 22:01

Georgiana. I reminds me of Darcys sister in pride and prejudice 🥰

YearsofYears · 15/09/2023 22:02

I like both but think Georgia is just more fresh and modern. Still classic though :)

SkaneTos · 15/09/2023 22:10

Both names are very pretty!

I agree with a previous poster, Georgiana makes me think of Georgiana Darcy, Mr Darcy's sister in "Pride and Prejudice.

dollygrip · 15/09/2023 23:40

Georgiana is georgy-ahna really, this is the normal pronunciation. George-ay-na was just an affected pronunciation that became popular for a while around the time the Duchess of Devonshire lived (the one in the film with Keira Knightley).

I find Georgiana too long and fussy really. Georgina flows much better.

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 16/09/2023 00:02

Georgiana is preferred, however you will be forever correcting those who insist on pronouncing it Georgie-ahna

ScottishIceCream · 16/09/2023 00:09

Oh do go with Georgiana! We need a Regency revival.😊

QueeniePlumtree · 16/09/2023 08:52

I have a Georgia.

When she was born I didn't like the nn Gina.

However, 19 years on I really think Georgina and Gina as an nn is lovely.

I think you'll always get people who ask how any name is spelt these days.

She's often had Goergia, Jorja, Giorga and yes we are in the UK! 😫

KirstenBlest · 16/09/2023 09:05

That doesn't surprise me, @QueeniePlumtree . Lots of people will transpose vowels. A close family member has a 6-letter name, 3 of which are vowels, and the misspellings are impressive. The consonants are usually in the right place but the vowels move around randomly (a bit like if Kayden was written Kyaden, Keydan, Kaedyn, Kaydden etc)

**I don't have any relative called Kayden
