Could be Nicolas or straight Nico. Mainly worried about posh/pretentious…

What about just Nicholas?

cigarettesNalcohol · 08/06/2023 17:57

Nico is very French for me

MrsSamR · 08/06/2023 17:58

I'd just think Italian. Struggling to see how it's posh or pretentious..?

I’d think “Hulkenberg”

F1 racing driver.

This and I was going to say Nico Rosberg too. F1 world champion 2016.

TiredandLate · 08/06/2023 18:01

I know an Italian Nico and a completely English Nico, both male and definitely not posh. I like the name and wouldn't worry about using it or having a longer version.

NewPinkJacket · 08/06/2023 18:01

Nico is the polar opposite of posh in my area (very working class large council estate).

Also very popular name for dogs and cats around here.

ourflagmeansdeath · 08/06/2023 19:01

Love love Nico, but on its own. Would either think Nico Parker from The Last of Us or Nico Di Angelo from the Percy Jackson books. I would think Italian/Greek of the sorts.

coxesorangepippin · 08/06/2023 19:03

Italian waiter

GeraltsBathtub · 08/06/2023 19:07

Velvet Underground would be my first thought. I wouldn’t necessarily think Italian as I also know a French Nico. I do think if you go for Nicolas he will be destined for a life of saying ‘it’s Nicolas with no h’ but I really like Nicholas and think it’s underused.

Yiayoula · 08/06/2023 19:09

Either Italian heritage, or English parents with great taste in names.
Love it !

namechanger563 · 08/06/2023 19:10

I like the Welsh Neco, pronounced the same way as Nico is in English, ie nee-ko

orangeflags · 08/06/2023 19:14

Great girls name. Velvet underground connection for me too

StopStartStop · 08/06/2023 19:16

Nico, short for Nicola, male, Italian.

No further comment.

goingtotown · 08/06/2023 19:18

I'd think Greek.

ChequeredPastel · 08/06/2023 19:20

Brooklyn 99 Nicolage

Monsterjam · 08/06/2023 19:21

Reminds me of the ITV show Midsomer Murders. And it’s a lovely name.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 08/06/2023 19:21

I would think you're Italian...

Holidaynovice · 08/06/2023 19:23

A for Adley on You Tube.. 😁. I like it though.

@namechanger563 , Neco isn't a Welsh name and if it was it would be Necko.
I know a welsh Nico and he's Nickoh

Cocopogo · 08/06/2023 20:35

The middle aged woman on Emmerdale

Twoshoesnewshoes · 08/06/2023 20:39

Me too. I'd never let her anywhere near a bicycle.

Buffypaws · 08/06/2023 20:44

My nephew is a Nico so I’d think of a baby Spaniard. It’s a perfectly charming name. I don’t know any Italian Nicos but I know a South African one. And ofc the f1 drivers.

RoxyMuzak · 08/06/2023 20:46

Now I can't stop singing 'Up to Lexington, one-two-five, feel sick and dirty, more dead than alive'. I loved that song at a time when everyone I knew was getting mellow with Crosby Stills and Nash.
