Are there lots of Freyas?

I love Freya but I've heard it's so popular. Checked dark greener and it's number 6.

The popularity does worry me as my friend hated being 1 of 4 Chloes in her class when we were at school.

Do you know a lot of Freyas... are there a few per class in your little one's school etc? 👀

No but my name is similar and i hated it being so recognisable. My kids have super super common names. Unusual obsession is a mumsnet phenomenon. Nothing wrong with Amelie or Isabel or sebastian or louis.
If you like it use it. Doesnt matter what anybody else thinks.

I’ve got a Freya and although there’s none in her class there’s a few more in the class above and below. It’s definitely popular where we are

Definitely popular at my school. Also Freja.

My daughter is Freya. I did worry about using it as it’s so popular. She’s 2 now and I’ve not come across another. In the North West if that helps.

I have a Freya, there's one other Freya in her year group (there's 2 classes for each year group in their school)

Yeah I know quite a lot but I never think of it as popular for some reason, not like Ella, Lily etc. It's a lovely name anyway

Yes it's popular. It's been in the top 50 for 20 years, top 25 for most of that, so there will be quite a few of them even if she is the only on in her school class.
I think it's overused and don't like Frey, but when I only knew one, I thought it was nice. She's in her 30s now.

Yes dd has 2 in her group of friends. It’s a group of 5, with a Freya and Freja. DS has 3 in his year group.

I don't think it's that popular, there's only one in my daughter's school in the north east.

Yes, a fair few around here of primary school age

We don't know any, my DCs are later primary though so not sure if it's been more popular recently.

Neighbours have a Freya, aged 14. A lovely girl.

I run a playgroup. Never had a Freya in 3 years. Not that popular here. Lots of flower names. Poppy, ivy, rose etc

I don't know a single Freya (mc area of South east). Round here it's all Isabella, Isabel, Amelie, Ava, Olivia, etc. Freya is a lovely name.

A couple of colleagues in the past few years have had a Freya, but I haven't encountered one in my kids class/nursery/activities. It's a beautiful name, so if you like it, go for it. I do prefer the spelling with j rather than y, but pronounced the same either way.

It’s popular as in top 10 but it’s not crazy popular as fewer children have names from top 10 especially for girls. If you love it go for it. I don’t think it’s comparable to the popularity of Chloe.

Personally I haven’t met any. It might be good to check popularity in your region.

Yes it’s popular, it’s as generic as Evie/Isla/Amelia/Olivia. And they are all paired with Rose/Grace/May as middle names.

@ThomasinaLivesHere , about 2000 born each year over the past 15 years in England & Wales, so probably about as popular as Leo.

Freya was a popular name when I was in school 20 years ago, I haven't heard it used much recently in the last decade.

I have a Freya. I only know one other and that one is small with dark brown hair. I think it goes better for fair haired kids due to its origins.
