We have an Oliver (Ollie) Dylan and Alexander (Alex). DH vetoes most suggestions so we are basically left with a couple of names he doesn't hate.
Current list:
Edward (Ted/Teddy) my favourite but DH insists he'll get nn Eddie which I'm not keen on
James - maybe a bit boring and I don't like Jay
Elliott - like but don't love

Thoughts on these three or any suggestions?

I like James and Edward of your three
When I saw the names of your Ds I immediately thought of Toby

KateyCuckoo · 22/05/2023 21:13

James isn't boring! I would call him James.

RubaiyatOfAnyone · 22/05/2023 21:14

I like all your names, tbh. I like James - i haven’t met any little Jameses for a long time.
they all seem to fit the “traditional” mould (maybe Elliot a little less so), so some others i would associate with that category:

Marcus
Peter
Nathaniel
Lucas
Matthew

Yes, Toby! That works well and I love the name

memememe · 22/05/2023 21:17

Sam?

Infusionist · 22/05/2023 21:18

I love James, and I don’t know any little ones. I’ve never known one shortened to Jay, and that definitely wouldn’t put me off.

Jeelypieces20storeys · 22/05/2023 21:20

James! Absolute classic, traditional but cool.
Daniel
Kyle
Malachi
Jude

I’d Google the 30 most common names in the uk as you seem to like that trend. They’re all pretty popular, traditional names. If I had to veto any of them then it would be James, it is a bit uninspiring with no personality behind it.

FrownPrincess · 22/05/2023 21:23

Edward is the best, especially shortened to Ned

Daisypain · 22/05/2023 21:25

Felix
Theodore if you like Teddy/Ted
Natanial (Nate)
Zach
Sebastian (Seb/Sebby)

Wrennie24 · 22/05/2023 21:27

Samuel

Sewingdufus · 22/05/2023 21:30

William
Jonathan
Edward

caringcarer · 22/05/2023 21:31

I like Edward and if you call him Ted/Teddy then others will do too. My DGS is called Nathan and DD said they call him Nate so everyone just calls him Nate.

Stabee · 22/05/2023 21:32

Marcus or Milo or Max or Otto.

James and Teddy are a bit dull. Elliott is so over used now.

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 22/05/2023 21:33

If your list I would go James or Elliot if you don’t like Eddie.

what about Henry?

Schum · 22/05/2023 21:34

Elliott is lovely. Or how about Reuben, Tobias, Sebastian or Harrison?
My fourth boy is called Quade as it means fourth born but it’s not the same style as your other names at all!

MissyB1 · 22/05/2023 21:35

Thomas (Tom)
Francis (Frankie)
Ralph
Hugh
Conrad (Con)

LindorDoubleChoc · 22/05/2023 21:37

George
Gabriel
Spencer
William
Simon
Thomas

Mumofgirls2017 · 22/05/2023 21:38

I vote Edward. I think if you call him Teddy from an early age he is unlikely to be Eddie

LoonyLois · 22/05/2023 21:39

Don’t know why, but I thought Ralph when I read your other three’s names

paulhollywoodshairgel · 22/05/2023 21:40

Christopher? Kit for short. Theo.. Arthur?

I know 2 Edwards one is Eddie and the other is Ned. So I guess whichever nn you use will stick.

thegreylady · 22/05/2023 21:41

My dgs Edward has grown through Teddy, Ted to his own choice of Ed.

ladygindiva · 22/05/2023 21:41

I love Edward. Call him Ted from the start and ban Eddie if you want. People will get the message.
Seb jumped out as a possible to go with your other names, also Seth.

Findyourneutralspace · 22/05/2023 21:42

James is lovely. How about Jamie or Jim?

Jellycats4life · 22/05/2023 21:42

I know a Teddy who is actually an Edward, but I didn’t know this for years because he always goes by Teddy or Ted.
