but is it making too much of a resurgence ? Or is it still well know but not too common like some of my other fave girl names are (Elsie, Isla)

It's already a nickname - it's a shortened version of Adelheid. Now THAT would be a bold choice.

I have a much loved family member named Heidi, so it has good connotations to me. She's in her 50s now so it's a name definitely due a resurgence.

My 3 year old is Heidi! We get so many compliments and only ever met one other the same age in a public loo weirdly enough haha.

I also like Finley so I think there's something to be said for good taste here 😁

True, Adelheid being the German translation of Adelaide. That's a classic name and still reasonably unusual. I suppose it depends whether or not you like diminutives as whole names.

Johanna Spyri, James Barrie and Philip Pullman have been responsible for a lot of little girls being called Heidi, Wendy and Lyra!

(I like the name of Heidi's friend, Clara).

I really don't like it. It was a very popular name when I was at school in the 80s/early 90s. Every single Heidi at school was.... chavvy. Sorry I absolutely hate that term but don't know how else to put it! I always associate the name with these bitchy girls at school with their bad perms and sovereign rings.

It's not my favourite but I don't know why. I just immediately see Heidi from sugababes (she may be lovely, I don't know)

I worked with a total nutcase called Heidi, it's completely ruined the name for me now.

Only reason i did not like my name as a child is i'm a 70s baby and HI DI HI was on tv so had that shouted at me a lot in school and the tv programe Heidi was on so got asked about goat herding a lot !!! ...kids these days would have no idea about these shows so don't think it would be an issue any more...

I quite like it, I know a lot of Heidi's though, it seems to be getting popular in my area - I know more Heidis than Olivias or Evies.

I'd always think of the 1880 children's book by Johanna Spyri. It is the pet form of the Swiss-Germanic Adelheid, and terribly old-fashioned. Personally I'd avoid it for the same reason that I wouldn't call a girl Pollyanna. Also Spyri's 'Heidi' was orphaned as a toddler, and I wouldn't want to tempt fate!
