So Elsa is out 😂
Please rate our current short list. We are aware that most of these are extremely popular, this doesn’t bother us! Just which you think is the nicest :)

Hattie (don’t like Harriet or Henrietta)
Evie (again this would be full name, dislike Evelyn/Eve)
Ella
Lily
Heidi

Thank you!

Lily for me.

I generally dislike "ee" ending names as they can sound a bit cute but I think Lily mostly escapes this as it feels fairly classic (possibly due to the flower association). I also think with a more classic feel it doesn't matter as much that it's popular - your other popular choices, nice as they are (apart from Heidi which I dislike the sound of) seem less classic.

Lily or Heidi.
Hannah
Eden
Millie
Elena

Hattie 💓 is such a sweet name & seeing it becoming more popular now but not overly! Don’t like the rest sorry.

Smarties2 · 21/05/2023 09:45

I know an Ilse (pronounced Ih-l-s-ah) which is a similar vibe to Elsa, without the Frozen association!

@Smarties2 oh wow that’s beautiful! This has thrown a spanner in the works 🙈 may be tempted by the Ilsa spelling to make pronunciation a little easier

I personally think you should stand your ground with Elsa, it’s a name that’s been used in the UK for years before Frozen came out. It’s not like say Olaf for example where the only one you’d know is from the film.
I also think any name is a “risk”, the day after you sign a birth certificate a huge new film franchise could launch with the name you choose, or alternatively someone could get launched into the news for mass murder or something horrific with the same name.
I honestly can’t remember any of the major films released in the years before I was born, doubt anyone would even make the connection now, nevermind in a few years when she’s older

Heidi is by far the best of the bunch. I really love it.
Classic and suits all ages.
Not overused.

yellowmeerkat · 22/05/2023 17:21

Can anyone think of any longer/ more formal options for Hattie other than Harriet or Henrietta?

I love Hattie and Ella. Evie is cute, maybe abit too cute though.
Lily sounds nice. Heidi, I’m not sure about.
Elsa, I can’t get past Frozen.

Fandabedodgy · 22/05/2023 17:31

Lily or Eve

Madamecastafiore · 22/05/2023 17:53

Every second kid at school is Elle Ellie Evie Eva and it goes on at the moment.

Lilly's are very common too.

Claudia, different but nice and Claudie for her nickname?

Heidi is the only one not commonly used at the moment but Harriet on BC with Hattie (although reminds me of nurse in Carry on Films) as her everyday name is nice.
