So Elsa is out 😂
Please rate our current short list. We are aware that most of these are extremely popular, this doesn’t bother us! Just which you think is the nicest :)

Hattie (don’t like Harriet or Henrietta)
Evie (again this would be full name, dislike Evelyn/Eve)
Ella
Lily
Heidi

Thank you!

Would discount Evie and Ella because there are just so many.

Agree with pp that Hattie might want a choice as an adult, although Hattie Morahan may beg to differ (but she is a Harriet).

Lily - this was like the Ella/Evie of the nineties and noughties so there may not be so many around if her age.

Heidi - it's ok, makes me think of Joanna Spyri's book, and, unfortunately, hi-di-hi campers........

yellowmeerkat · 08/05/2023 10:30

@toastofthetown I like Elsa the best too, if you have any tips on persuading DH on the history of the name pre Frozen they would be much appreciated 😂😂

Hattie - great but would put Harriet on BC
Evie - lovely, as is Eve. Overused to the point of dullness. I don't like the similar names
Ella - ok but a bit nothingy. Lots of Ellies and Ellas, to the point of meh
Lily - quite nice but overused
Heidi - I like it

Hattie or Heidi. Hattie but needs to be short for Harriet

toottootpipip · 08/05/2023 10:36

Hattie or Heidi favourites for me

How about Elise or Elsie as an approximation of Elsa?

All the names in your list are fine, some of them are very popular

yellowmeerkat · 08/05/2023 10:50

@toottootpipip thank you for your suggestions. I find I think of Elsie as an old lady’s name due to my line of work, although believe it is making a come back.
Elise just doesn’t have such a pretty sound to it in my opinion, but they are both worth considering, thank you :)

I know what you mean about Elsie.

Another possibility could be Elisa?

Fwiw there's an Elsa in my son's year at school and people might say oh like frozen the first time they meet her but that's it. I think if you love it you should go for it!

BigBoysDontCry · 08/05/2023 11:55

You could go for Elizabeth/Elisabeth and that would give you the Elsa and Ella options from your list options as well as Elisa, Eliza, Liza, Lisa, Etta and many more.

ourflagmeansdeath · 08/05/2023 14:08

Hattie - It's okay, but not my favourite
Evie - It's sweet but once again not my taste
Ella - A bit too plain but nothing wrong with it
Lily - I actually think this is super pretty
Heidi - My favourite! It's gorgeous

If you want to use Elsa then go for it, but obviously if your DH doesn't like it you can't do much.

cptartapp · 08/05/2023 15:07

Heidi. Probably the least wet.

sparklefresh · 08/05/2023 15:26

Lily or Heidi. Ella or Evie are so bland and ubiquitous that you may as well just call her 'girl'. Hattie is ok but only as a nickname IMO.

Amadeaa · 08/05/2023 15:29

Ella

yellowmeerkat · 08/05/2023 16:01

@BigBoysDontCry wish we liked Elizabeth as it has so many fabulous nickname options but unfortunately it’s just not for us, good suggestion though

You can show him this link https://nameberry.com/babyname/elsa

When I hear the name Elsa I still think of the lioness from Born Free :)

I agree with some PPs that it's the best choice of the ones you like. Second for me would be Heidi.

@cordelia16 thank you!

If you scroll down you can see a list of real and fictional people who have the name.

If your husband is a football fan, you can tell him that Spanish footballer Fernando Torres has named his daughter Elsa.

mathanxiety · 08/05/2023 16:23

Ella is my favourite.

Not keen on the rest. Heidi is my least favourite.

yellowmeerkat · 08/05/2023 16:24

@cordelia16 that’s great, I will give it a go!

mathanxiety · 08/05/2023 16:25

I like Elsa more than any of the names on your list all the same.

lljkk · 08/05/2023 16:46

Hattie = something to do with hats, sorry. I can only like it as nn for Harriet.

Eleanor can be Ella for short...
Evita ?

For me the ones in OP are much of a sameness.

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 08/05/2023 21:26

Hattie (don’t like Harriet or Henrietta) - really like
Evie (again this would be full name, dislike Evelyn/Eve) - really like
Ella - like but prefer Hattie, evie and Heidi
Lily - nothing wrong with it but prefer the others
Heidi - really like

barca123 · 08/05/2023 21:53

Actually love them all :)

Katherine1985 · 08/05/2023 22:05

Ella

Eula. Less known but so beautiful

ladygindiva · 08/05/2023 22:17

Hattie :love it.
Evie: ok
Ella: indifferent
Lily: lovely but overused
Heidi: love it.

They're all good names. Heidi is possibly my favourite.

yellowmeerkat · 09/05/2023 19:37

Thanks all. Think we’ve narrowed it down to Lily, Evie and Heidi 😀

OP posts:
Sparklynewcareer · 20/05/2023 21:08

Heidi is beautiful, I would choose it except it clashes with our surname
