Would you like Christina for a baby girl?

Any associations?

Yes

KirstenBlest · 21/04/2023 22:00

@Giraffeandtiger , not particularly dated but doesn't fit in with all the vowelly names mostly with L or V as the main consonants (Isla, Evie, Ava, Olivia, Ellie, Lily etc) that are around now. I think Cristina was very popular for a time in Italy, so might be a bit middle-aged there.
I only know about 4 Christinas, and they're of different ages.

derekthe1adyhamster · 21/04/2023 22:04

I've known many teen Christina's over the last 10 years in my job. Loads of great nick names
Tina
Tine (pronounced teeeen)
Christy
Kristie
Chris

It's very common in Scandinavia as well as in eastern European and Asia. I think I only knew 1 who was UK born though

SargentSagittarius · 21/04/2023 22:04

It’s a delightful change from the ubiquitous Islas, Evies, Avas, Olivias, Ellies, Lilys, etc., to be honest!

I reckon you’d be ahead of the curve going with a name like this.

All of the above names are starting to sound pretty tired now, and I think people are looking for something different sounding.

I like Christy/Christie as a nickname.

17caterpillars1mouse · 21/04/2023 22:15

Yay

Beautiful, understated name

dozydoo · 21/04/2023 22:17

Lovely name and I think Tina is a good nickname, very underrated and due a comeback.

MaryDoll84 · 21/04/2023 22:56

I really like it. It's uncommon without being weird and I think it suits both a child and a woman which is obviously something to take into consideration. Don't think it's dated at all

thebaneofmylifeisacat · 22/04/2023 00:34

Love it.

DramaAlpaca · 22/04/2023 00:37

I love it, but unfortunately don't like any of the diminutives.

YourWinter · 22/04/2023 00:39

Wonderful name!

NeonMist · 22/04/2023 00:45

It's a Classic name, but I prefer the spelling Kristina

Justaflippertyjibbet · 22/04/2023 00:49

Love it. You could mix it up a bit and use a K, Kristina.

Shhhquirrel · 22/04/2023 00:50

Beautiful name. Loved the character of Christina Parsons in the ‘Flambards’ series of books by K M Peyton 🐎

CallieQ · 22/04/2023 00:52

Love Christina.. was my Granny's name ❤️

Pemba · 22/04/2023 00:55

Nice name, it's classic, not 'dated'. I like Chrissie for short.

Rustyhandlebars · 22/04/2023 00:55

Classic and beautiful op

TheShellBeach · 22/04/2023 00:57

How about Christiana.

Cosycover · 22/04/2023 01:02

Nay

user1492757084 · 22/04/2023 06:22

Christine and Christina are both classic.
I view, personally, that neither is dated but both are not in pupular use right now.
Christine was very popular about 1950s and 60s.

MagnoliatheMagnificent · 22/04/2023 10:48

I like it. I know one Christina who is an older lady, and a couple of Christine's both in their 50's so it's unusual. I really like names that end in 'A' - Maria, Rebecca, Lucia etc, it makes a nice sound.
Are you Christian at all? There is the possible link with the 'Christ' in the name although to be fair I've never really thought of it before!

Ginger1982 · 22/04/2023 10:50

I love Christina. Christine is more dated. I love the nickname Chrissy. I think it's classic. I've never heard of a Christina genital piercing so that's a new one on me!

I know someone called Christina but she pronounces it Chris-tyne-a.

Ichosetheredpill · 22/04/2023 10:57

Definitely dated and I don’t like any of the nicknames.

Luredbyapomegranate · 22/04/2023 11:01

No - It’s nice in itself but there’s a high chance she’ll end up Chris or Tina, neither of which are at all nice.

Carina
Cassia
Cliona
Chiara
Catriona

might be alternatives

JamSandle · 22/04/2023 11:09

A very beautiful name.

lemonyellows · 22/04/2023 11:12

I like Christy more
