Hugo or George?

Just that really! Between the two, and unsure which to pick. Both have some family significance for us.

Love that they are both short, classic, and straightforward.

(Please don’t worry too much about popularity: neither name is popular at all where we live).

George. Once knew a very pretentious Hugo and it put me off a bit!

George is a nice name.

To my ear, Hugo is not, but that might be because I associate it with that troll video game character from the 90s…

I am very obviously in the minority on that though, and these things are very subjective

@Ophelia55 hi, I’ve seen a couple of your posts on the baby name Hugo. Just wondering if you went for it in the end? It’s my favourite name, we’re having a baby boy in a few weeks but I have to admit a few of the replies you got put me off. Just wondering if you used it and how it’s been received/are you glad you did? Thanks!!

George - much more timeless and classic

Hugo sounds pretentious and I don't like how the H is pronounced (Heeoo)

If it’s your favourite name go with it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks however my little boy is called Hugo and it came from no where really we only chose it after he was born so family and friends had no idea but they all appeared to love it. X

Hugo! Lovely name (I have one)

I have a George and am expecting my second who I presumed was a boy and would have been Hugo (not to be as this one’s actually a girl) but safe to say both names are favourites for me.
Nickname-wise my son is Georgie for the moment (he’s only 2) & I think it’s a sweet nickname (sometimes Geo too).
