I once met a family.....

They had a US mother and Yugoslavian dad (in the days of the cold war)

Their mother liked to read and to name children after characters in books.

DD1 - Glumdalclitch (a character from Gulliver's travels)
DS1 - Ocean (from Oceans ride)
DS2 Heathcliff (work that one out for yourself)
DS3 - Jeswaldo [sp?]
DS4 - Thirsten Twirst [sp?]

My dad wanted to lend her the hitch-hikers guide the galaxy

My mum threatened him with death if he did as she couldn't face being responsible for a slarty bardfast or a zafod

Go on - beat that for daft names (loved the kids btw, who were my age or younger - and Glummy - if you are out there on MN, I would love to get in touch)

Cali - hello lovely

The thing that really giggles me on the last two names was that she didn't know how to spell them or pronounce them (at least that is what she told my mum)

so if you don't know how to spell it or pronounce it ......
