Harry?

DH suggested a baby name that I 100% said was not happening. His next top name is Harry and I'm not against it but not 100% sold for DS due in July.
What are your thoughts? Too popular, too plain/boring? Or and old classic?

Thanks all.

It is popular and probably a bit boring, but it's fine.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 08/03/2023 15:16

It’s grown on me recently. I never used to like it, but now I do for some reason.

Dreamingof3 · 08/03/2023 15:33

There's nothing wrong with it, easily spelt, pronounced and recognised. For me though it's a bit too popular and 'safe'. That being said, popular names are popular for a reason .. because lots of people like them!

Reddahlias · 08/03/2023 15:37

Sooo boring from overuse. There are 4 Harrys in our scouts group, two of which have the same surname... then there's soo many well known Harrys including Prince Harry. Personally I'd choose a more interesting and memorable name for your son!

I don’t think it’s as popular as it used to be. When I had my daughter (now 11) every boy I knew born that year was called either Harry or Ethan. Since then I don’t know of any babies called Harry. It’s a nice classic name.

purpledalmation · 08/03/2023 15:52

Way too many Harry's.

shoopshoopdedoo · 08/03/2023 16:13

Like it!!

ourflagmeansdeath · 08/03/2023 17:07

It's honestly just a bit bland for me but there isn't anything wrong with it I suppose.

TheVanguardSix · 08/03/2023 17:08

Call him Harold or Henry… then Harry or Hal as a diminutive.

bazzabaz · 08/03/2023 17:10

It's very common and also will remind people of that pain in the arse, Harry Windsor.

Beamur · 08/03/2023 17:16

Prince...
How about Henry?

Notellinganyone · 08/03/2023 17:29

How about Hal?

fruitandfibreg · 08/03/2023 19:13

I actually don't know any baby Harry's! I go to a lot of baby classes and none there! Full of Arthur's and Max's. I like Harry

Thank you all so far for your honest opinions.

people will always think you've named after Prince Harry

Spanielsarepainless · 08/03/2023 20:53

Boring. Henry is PH's actual name and is much nicer.

greensbeans · 08/03/2023 20:54

No one will think he’s named after Prince Harry, or probably even associate it. There’s too many Harrys for that association to be made (Prince, Styles, Potter to name a few). It’s a lovely classic name, but it’s somewhat safe and bland. I don’t know any babies named Harry though, everyone seems to be using much more unique names now. Traditional, classic names are much less used than they used to be in my opinion.

Rainbowbaby13 · 08/03/2023 21:59

I prefer Harrison but Harry is fine

user1492757084 · 09/03/2023 03:23

Harry is a nice name. People won't say it's after Prince Harry.
I love Barry too and it is not overused.

sunflowerdaisyrose · 09/03/2023 04:19

Harry is a lovely name and I don't know many little ones.

Nimbostratus100 · 09/03/2023 04:22

I'd go with Henry, then you can have Harry or Hal as a nickname, if you choose to

Theoldwoman · 09/03/2023 04:51

I like Harry, but prefer Henry if that’s an option.

Harold?! Is he 89?

CurlewKate · 09/03/2023 06:12

Henry shortened to Harry? He's got choices then. There's also Hal.
