Is it too much of a rhyme?

Love the name Clara, but surname rhymes… as in O’….
Would it be okay or silly? Would it even matter?!

I really like it actually lol

BitOutOfPractice · 07/03/2023 21:50

I think you should use it as a pet name for her or maybe I’m the only one who has weird rhyming pet names along with millions of others for their kids

DawnAnn · 07/03/2023 21:50

What about Clarissa as an alternative to Clara?

EmbracingTheEyeBags · 07/03/2023 21:51

We had a Donna Bonner in our school (obviously everyone pronounced it Donna Bonna)
Lovely sweet girl. I can't ever remember her getting picked on for it (I only know her from secondary school) but it's a name I'll never forget.

I also knew of an old man went by the name Bill, but he was William Williams 😆😆

How about Claire O’Hara?

Other suggestions:

Cat (Catriona/Catherine/Cathleen)
Kate
Clodagh
Chloe

MyEasterEggs · 07/03/2023 22:01

Cora? Cleo?

AmandaMirandaPanda · 07/03/2023 22:06

One of my (imaginary) children is called Darragh O'Mara Capybara. I don't see what's so funny.

What about Clarissa as an alternative to Clara?

Clarissa O'Hara is a bit of a tongue twister.

ThePaperTrail · 07/03/2023 22:37

Claudia as an alternative?

Claudine O'Hara would flow even better.

CaptainMyCaptain · 07/03/2023 22:37

Clarissa O'Hara is a bit of a tongue twister.

And makes me desperately want to say ‘Clarissa O’Harissa’!

Enko · 07/03/2023 23:56

I like it.
I knew a Jordan Morgan didn't do him any harm he liked his rhyming name.

Barleysugar86 · 08/03/2023 00:03

No you can't use this name. But I feel you.

I loved Clara too but Clara Clark was just too much as well!

WinterMusings · 08/03/2023 00:10

How about Claudie

Emptycrackedcup · 08/03/2023 00:54

Yahyahs22 · 07/03/2023 21:15

Why do I love Clara O'Hara?! I shouldnt but I do.

I actually feel the same! I like it, I'm shocked but I do!

LadyVictoriaSponge · 08/03/2023 00:58

It’s so wrong it’s right, I like it 🤷🏻‍♀️

merrymelodies · 08/03/2023 00:59

Why would you give your child a silly name, leaving them open to mockery?

LadyVictoriaSponge · 08/03/2023 01:01

Undermyumberellaellaella · 07/03/2023 21:28

Please don't do this. I know a Jayden Kayden and had to try and not laugh when I first heard it.

And I bet it was shortened to JK which I think is pretty cool (love Jamiroquai)

mathanxiety · 08/03/2023 02:29

O'Hara, O'Meara, O'Gara..

No.

LakeTiticaca · 07/03/2023 21:42

A bit like Gary and Phil Nevilles Dad.
Neville Neville. Great name and unforgettable!! 😉

It's brilliant
I know lots of people with names like John Jones, David Davies, Robert Roberts, William Williams, and one Steve Stevens.

KirstenBlest · 08/03/2023 09:21

Clara O'Hara is great @CastlesByTheSea , but why not add Sara as a middle name.

JenniferBarkley · 08/03/2023 10:59

I genuinely love it!

The divided opinion might sway me away from it though since it wouldn't be me who has to live with it.

I did give one DC a very illiterative name though, so I guess it was likely to be my thing.

CastlesByTheSea · 08/03/2023 22:48

R0ckets · 07/03/2023 21:32

Yea but I don’t think they will be well liked either! I have safe bet names but I like the idea of the ones I like. Names are so different now to how they used to be

What other names do you like? Names aren't that different these days. Yes there's some more unusual ones but there's still plenty of names that were used hundreds of years ago too, even more so now with the revival of 'granny type' names.

Araminta and Edith x

OP posts:
Kitchenette · 08/03/2023 23:12

Edith O’Hara is great. Araminta I like but I find Araminta O’Hara slightly hard to say- it’s like an elocution lesson in a name. A lots of As.

SugarNspices · 08/03/2023 23:20

Another vote for Clara O'Hara! Born to be the main character😁
