Hello, everyone! My name is Jennifer. I gave birth to my third daughter a few weeks ago. My husband and I ended up naming her Flora Beatrice. I am a momma of 5. Stella Marie&Matilda Jocelyn(twin girls), Caleb Dominic, Arthur Frederick and Flora Beatrice.

Ella,Tilly,Leb and Artie are the nicknames for the first four kids. Are there any great nicknames for Flora Beatrice?

OP posts:

I gave my elder son an old fashioned long name that I thought he'd naturally shorten (like Frederick to Freddie) and he insists on using the original longer version so he sounds like a victorian gentleman introducing himself :)

There's no rhyme or reason to how names stick. I spent the first 20 years with the longer version of my name and the second plus with the shortened and I can't really explain how it all changed, I didn't force it either way!

But in response to OP - Floss/Flossie seems to be what came to mind or perhaps Florrie x

Flobea

DuchessOfSausage · 21/02/2023 19:33

or Flo-Bee, to rhyme with Toby

NeverApologiseNeverExplain · 21/02/2023 19:33

Flora is the name for a type of non-dairy spread in the UK (where I am guessing you are not from). Hence the sarcastic suggestion of "Buttery" etc.

MN's stock in trade is negativity, it's kind of fun when done right, but I don't think the humour here is likely to be a good fit for you. Try Googling "Netmums", that is probably more your tribe.

Ed or Sissy, short for Edward Scissorhands, or Barbie short for Barber?

Toottooot · 21/02/2023 19:38

Flubby

WanderingWildflower · 21/02/2023 19:40

Flodge 😀

Allmarbleslost · 21/02/2023 19:40

Marge

Hmm

Pieceofpurplesky · 21/02/2023 20:11

Not Flobbie. Where I am from that's a phlegm filled spit like sportsmen do

CaramelMach · 21/02/2023 20:16

this is weird

Catnipples · 21/02/2023 21:34

Rabbit.

MumOf2workOptions · 21/02/2023 21:38

@JenniferAudrey

Firstly - great choice in names!

I'd say Floss or Flo

fruitandfibreg · 21/02/2023 21:54

Flora is on my list I loooove it. I love the Nn Florrie. Congratulations!

inloveandmarried · 22/02/2023 08:22

Fliss

first sound from first name and last sound from middle name.

Daisychained8 · 22/02/2023 09:12

I don’t think you can use Bea because her name is Flora. If you wanted her to be a Bea you maybe should have called her Beatrice Flora instead of Flora Beatrice? Flo is the best nickname for Flora.

ScruffMuffin · 22/02/2023 12:38

Flo is the obvious one, but Flossie works. Flobbie is just silly.

I have a Lauren and she's had Lala, Rara, Sporran, Little One, Blondie and I forget what else. I'm sure you'll call your baby all sorts and something will stick. You don't need to plan anything while she's small, jd Flora is a lovely name anyway.

LizzieBrooks · 22/02/2023 12:49

Absolutely gorgeous name!

Ours is Florrie, Floor-ey (looks weird written!) and Roary (DH’s nickname for her).

DD loves her name. 🙂

LizzieBrooks · 22/02/2023 12:49

Just to add outside the family it’s just Flora.

midsomermurderess · 22/02/2023 12:54

Flossie. I know a Florence who goes by that.

My friend has a little girl called Florrie and I've always thought that was beatiful.
I love all your children's names. We also have a Matilda and are currently pregnant with what i think is a girl. I love the name Flora but im called Laura so just dont think i could use it unfortunately.
