What's Orla's brother called?

Currently 13 weeks pregnant with our second baby and I'm fairly convinced it's a boy . . . I know, I know, it's 50-50, but I'm still thinking ahead and panicking slightly as I don't love any of the boys names we've thought of so far!

What are your suggestions for a boys name that works well with sibling name 'Orla', doesn't have too many 'n'a as it won't work with my surname, and an Irish or Welsh name would be a bonus due to family roots?

I quite like:

Tadhg (pronounced Tai-ig)
Keir
Cory
Rory
Toby

Would love your ideas and opinions, thank you!

Love love love Tadhg. I love the sound of it , and all the ones I’ve known (all in London, if it matters) have been very nice guys.

Tadhg is gorgeous. Also Oisín, I've been trying to talk my husband into it for our pending arrival and he's not convinced - I say pet there be more Oisíns!!

Fergus.

Tadhg is my favourite! But I'm worried about pronunciation issues as we live in England and my English friends stared at me blankly when I asked them how they would pronounce "T-A-D-G-H" Grin

I like Oisin but not with our surname - interestingly though we pronounce it differently to you where I'm from, we would say Osh-een!

Liam is nice actually.

I knew a Fergus long ago, @Toottooot - bad associations Grin Great name though.

Kian?

I knew an Órlaith with a brother Eoin (pronounced like Owen). I love both names.

Also love Fergus suggested by a pp and Tadhg from your list. I think Tadhg means poet in Irish which is lovely.

The only Orla I know has a brother called Evan.

If you like Tadhg and Rory what about Ruaridh? It's well known enough that it's more pronouncable but still has the Gaelic spelling. Though technically Ruairidh is the Gaelic spelling but I've never met anyone with the second I.

I have a Ruaridh and still love the name every time I say it.

MichelleScarn · 13/02/2023 20:55

Ciaran
Aiden

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 13/02/2023 20:56

Dylan
Conor
Michael - classic but not used a lot these days.
Eoin - Owen and there's a Welsh spelling too I think that doesn't spring to mind.
Aidan
Devlin. I means fierce courage
Tyrone - used by American Irish a lot but goes with Orla I think
