middle name will be Douglas and I already have a DS...
Oliver Stephen

So this one will be either..
Leo Douglas
Ted Douglas (full name Edward for when he is older and needs a 'CV' name)

Our surname starts with D

Opinions please....

Also you can call Ted Teddy

MuffinMclay · 07/02/2008 20:51

Ted

lucy5 · 07/02/2008 20:53

I have a Leo and one of his middle names is Douglas , after my dad.

MrsPhilipGlenister · 07/02/2008 20:54

Leo, definitely

I love Leo and would have definitely called one of the DSs Leo, particularly as two of them are actually Leos, but it doesn't go well with DH's surname which also begins with L .

southeastastra · 07/02/2008 20:54

neither

Grouchyoscar · 07/02/2008 20:55

Ted. it's great

I have an Edgar and I'd be happy it he chose Ted as a nickname

pippylongstockings · 07/02/2008 21:12

Another vote for TED.
I really like it.

singersgirl · 07/02/2008 21:14

Ted short for Edward is one of THE best names . I also like Leo, but it wouldn't work with our surname.

nospringchicken · 08/02/2008 13:55

Both are nice names but with the D of Douglas + your surname i think Leo will flow better.

HonoriaGlossop · 08/02/2008 14:04

Leo. It's a lovely, intelligent sounding name.

moljam · 08/02/2008 14:06

leo

Jojay · 08/02/2008 14:09

Leo. No question

LaDiDaDi · 08/02/2008 20:45

I love Ted as it was my grandad's name. His brother was Bill (William) and they had excellent adventures together .

Botbot · 08/02/2008 20:50

I like Ted. I had a big crush on a very cool American bloke called Ted at college. Nice that it's going to be Edward too.

Leo just makes me think of Tony Blair. And Leo Sayer.

ibblewob · 08/02/2008 20:53

Ohh, yes, TED - was my grandad's name too That would be on my list of fave boy's names. I like Teddy for when it's a baby, and then it gives him loads of options when he's growing up and wants to change his name (ie Ted, Ed, Eddie etc) - or is that just a girl thing?

WinkyWinkola · 08/02/2008 20:55

My DS is Teddy. Theodore.

Leo makes me think of Tony Blair and his nipper. Ted is much cuter and has more scope. He can be Ted, Teddy, Tedward etc. And he can choose when he's old enough.

Leo is just Leo. But then there's a lot to be said for simplicity.

funnypeculiar · 08/02/2008 20:57

I prefer Leo, personally - Ted is cute at 2, not sure at 13 or 23 - leo has more longevity, for me
Esp with D start to the surname

lollipopmother · 09/02/2008 11:26

Leo is much nicer than Ted imo, but I do love Theo as a couple of others have mentioned Theodore.

lucykate · 09/02/2008 11:30

leo would be my choice, i don't think it works well, grammatically, if the first name ends with the same letter that the next name starts with iyswim

Ted - LOVE it

I suggested Theodore (Ted, Teddy) for our dc (if a boy) when born - but dh wasn't overly keen

hurumph

Flamesparrow · 09/02/2008 11:35

I like Leo

Will he BE a Leo though (ie when is he due)? We decided on May as a middle name when DD was due in April - seeing as she was born in May everyone says "oh, is it because of when she was born?" and it really irks

edam · 09/02/2008 11:37

Either but agree if it is Ted, put Edward on the birth certificate. Mind you, remembering that thread with the poster who was really cross about her dh's family calling him by his childhood name, you'll probably have a DIL complaining that it's Edward in 25 years time.

mustrunmore · 09/02/2008 11:41

Ted.
Too many Leos now.

AdamAnt · 09/02/2008 11:42

Or how about hyphenating them to make Leo-Ted, and encouraging him to take up ballet
