Not sure what to think. Someone close to me is considering it.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MajorCarolDanvers · 21/01/2023 16:32

No

Topseyt123 · 21/01/2023 16:33

I think it is a good name for a black cat. 😃 Not for a human child.

berksandbeyond · 21/01/2023 16:34

Fine for a cat. Not a human

Bluebellbike · 21/01/2023 16:37

It's a cat's name. Here's mine

It's a cat's name. Here's mine

What a beautiful cat. 😃

He's the archetypal picture of a Merlin that I had in my mind's eye when posting earlier

TreacsPotNoodle · 21/01/2023 16:42

Makes me think of Nemos Dad Marlin.

cushioncovers · 21/01/2023 16:46

Nope it's a wizard or a bird in my view.

CosyFanTucci · 21/01/2023 16:46

I’m a yes but it’s a big name to live up to.

catinboots123 · 21/01/2023 16:49

Best name ever. My DH vetoed it for DS2. I'm still salty about it Smile

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 21/01/2023 16:49

A YAY from me.

theoldapplebarrel · 21/01/2023 16:51

There was a Labour politician called Merlyn Rees. Although (spelled with a "y") I think his was a traditional Welsh name.

SnowAndIcicles · 21/01/2023 16:52

I have met two Merlins who were very nice and of course there's the wonderful Merlin Sheldrake. Great name!

That’s Marlin. It’s a type of fish.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 21/01/2023 16:52

I knew a Merlin, fab little boy.

Thank you. Sadly he went over the Rainbow Bridge a while ago. He was a real character. In that photograph he was in my ndn kitchen for his second breakfast. A very loving cat who I will always miss.

WetBandits · 21/01/2023 17:19

I know four cats, three dogs and one wizard called Merlin. No babies Grin

For a dog, it's grand!

For a human child, not so much.

Luredbyapomegranate · 21/01/2023 17:30

I think it’s alright

Maybe make sure he gets something like James as a middle name

Luredbyapomegranate · 21/01/2023 17:31

HiccupHorrendousHaddock · 21/01/2023 16:52

That’s Marlin. It’s a type of fish.

I think the PP knows both those things judging by her post..

OrangePomander · 21/01/2023 17:33

I love it, it was in the running for ds at one point.

EveSix · 21/01/2023 17:37

Friday, a marlin is a fish.
The merlin is a small bird of prey. Really nice to spot.
Nice name. I knew a beautiful bohemian Merlin teen in the 90s. Cool AF.

chocolateismyjam · 21/01/2023 17:39

There was a boy called Merlin in my year at secondary. He did get a lot of ribbing about it. Dealt with it well and was fairly well-liked, but still, why give your kid extra challenges? It's a no from me.

Is this National "pick the most ridiculous baby name day"

Along with Halo and fallon this is equally as ridiculous

PuppaDontPreach · 21/01/2023 17:48

I know a Merlin in his late 40s. Have always thought it's a brilliant name.
