Does Elinor look misspelt to you?

Just wondering.

It's the traditional English spelling. 'Eleanor' is French. I'm always pleased when British people use the older English spelling!

Not in Wales. It's a popular Welsh name and it's pronounced ELL-in.
Elinor isn't Welsh, but does get used as a welsh name.

If I was writing the name I would assume it was spelt Eleanor, but I don't think Elinor looks misspelt

No. It's that spelling in pride and prejudice.

Not in Scotland! We pronounce “r” when it is at the end of a word - we don’t say “cah” for car or “Dooh” for door, so we don’t say “elenuh” for Eleanor/Elinor.

Not misspelt, just a variant that is currently quite rare. I do know one little girl called Elinor actually, but most people seem to call her Ellie.
