Perhaps I prefer the spelling of Rosemarie though. Feels a little more modern?

RuthW · 06/12/2022 15:58

Love it. Would have been my choice for dd but her dad said no

Paddingtonsmarmlade · 06/12/2022 16:01

Lovely classic name that's due a comeback. Rose/Rosie are nice shortening too.

SageRosemary · 06/12/2022 16:07

It's perfect, and I'm so flattered, thank you!

wishing3 · 06/12/2022 18:40

Love

TeeBee · 06/12/2022 18:40

Beautiful name.

MajorCarolDanvers · 06/12/2022 18:41

Rose is nice but Rosemary is old fashioned.

Everyone will call her Rose anyway so why not go with Rose? Rosemary sounds very old fashioned...

I’m thinking that. She’s either gonna get called rose or Marie 🤷🏼‍♀️

Ringmaster27 · 06/12/2022 18:43

Maybe because of my field of study, but I’m sorry to say my mind immediately goes to Rosemary West 😬😬

FlamingJingleBells · 06/12/2022 18:49

I love Rosa best of all, a bit more classier and grown up than Rosie.

Rosalyn
Rosalind
Rosanna
Rosanne
Rosina
Rosaria
Rosario
Rosalie

Claricestarling1 · 06/12/2022 18:52

Not my favourite, it sounds a bit clunky to my ears but that’s probably just me!

iloveorange · 06/12/2022 22:24

I'm sorry, I recently read 'Rosemary's baby' and that's all I can think of Blush

Pemba · 07/12/2022 01:40

A pretty name. Retro chic really and due for a revival. If people can call their baby girls names like Florence and Elsie and that's apparently fine, then why not skip forward a few decades to Rosemary?

The meaning is 'dew of the sea' apparently from rose + marinus, so it's not just a combination of Rose + Mary as you would assume. Like all the Rose- names, it's lovely, and Rose or Rosie could be used for short.

mathanxiety · 07/12/2022 03:38

Love it.

So much nicer than Rose, which always seems very funny to me.

Bisk · 07/12/2022 04:35

I immediately thought of Rosemary West too. But that's not a reason not to use it. (I used to work with an awesome woman called Myra.)

Pemba · 07/12/2022 04:52

@mathanxiety Rose is 'very funny'?? That's an unusual opinion, can you explain what you mean please?

How can you like Rosemary but not Rose?

housemaus · 07/12/2022 05:12

Gorgeous. Has a different vibe than Rose does to me, I don't know why, and I much prefer it. The only Rosemary I know is 30 and only every goes by her full name, not a shortening.

Dinoteeth · 07/12/2022 05:24

Op go for it. It might seem a little dated but so many old names are making a come back. Makes a change from the Ava and Evie type names.

And it will always be her name especially if you stick to it. My own Dad was always called his actual name by his parents, and siblings and in turn neices and nephews. Even if he was known by a shortened version by friends and at work.

DuchessOfSausage · 07/12/2022 10:07

I know 3, of different ages. One goes by her middle name instead, one is Rose, the other Rosemary.
I also know a Rosemarie, which seems a bit 1960s

spinachmonster · 07/12/2022 17:00

Really lovely!
