I can't believe no one else likes Elmo and positively HATES it! It snuck back into my mind today and it's a grower!!!!!!
still wouldn't have the guts to actually go with it though, I reckon it'd be cute before 5 and after 70!

3andnomore · 31/01/2008 18:39

which gives it 65years of being a pain 3d, lol...

3Ddonut · 01/02/2008 08:55

Yep, but if you're willing to put it up with it.....

Astrophe · 01/02/2008 13:03

I still love it (elmo), and I think a boy would grow into it and it would come to mean the child, not the muppet! It means 'protector', which is a nice meaning I think.
The main reason I wouldn't use it is that s's name starts with El...but thats always the way for me - lots of the boys names I like are similar, and lots of the girls names I like are similar. Does everybody find that?

I mean DS's, not s's

My friend's ds is called Jonah, I thought it a bit weird at the time. But have seen a few dotted about since then.I also like Amelie and Alfie No to Elmo, Poppy, and Jane (too plain) When pg with dd, if she was a boy we were going for Jude (dh big Beatles fan) or Flynn. Anything but my boring old Margaret for a name!!

igglepiggles · 01/02/2008 15:43

i like the names!!!

my ds is called Elwyn

but other names i liked were :-

allistair, george, Rosser and samuel.

and next time if we have a girl i like :-

Alys, Miriam, Lidia and Grace

my fav name was Nia and Rosie. only prob is our surname is Lee so it would have sounded nearly and rosie lee - cuppa tea/gypsy rose lee so unfortunatly they are out of the question!!

Astrophe · 03/02/2008 21:20

ooh, elwyn is cool! I like alistair, lydia and grace too, although there are lots of Graces about.

like Jesse but none of the others

like Tilly, edie & Amelie (but not Millie)

PillockOfTheCommunity · 04/02/2008 20:55

Emmanuel (manu)- too religious for me
Jesse - yes but might get teased
Elmo - no
Alfred (alfred) - shortened to Alfie yes
Barnabas - yes, shortened to barney

Ana (our surname starts with a vowel though...) - only if you are from a country where ana is the usual spelling
Analia (as above) - no
Amelie (Milly) - yes
Edie - yes
Jane - no
Mathilda (Tilly) - yes but with no h
Poppy - no, not keen on flower names

PieMama2007 · 04/02/2008 20:58

Poppy's nice, but way way too over-used. Same with Milly, unfortunately. Definitely not Analia (has the word 'anal' in it, fuel for school jokes).

Emmanuel is lovely.

cheeseontoast · 05/02/2008 00:43

No to Ana - internet slang for anorexia.

nappyaddict · 05/02/2008 14:21

can we start a new thread asking if anyone knows a child called elmo. i really like it but don't think i'd be brave enough either.

Astrophe · 05/02/2008 17:26

go for it nappyadict! Although one of the things I like about it is that nobody else is called it. I think it might be the equivelant of 'Alfie' in a decade though

I am totally sold on it now (the more I see it and think of it, the more I like it), but my ds already has a name beginning with el. Perhaps shall change DS's name.)

what is ds' name? i know sisters called lucy and louise so they both start with lou. doesn't sound weird to me.

georgedontdothat · 05/02/2008 17:33

Nobody likes Poppy tis my dd's name

[flouncy emotion]

Astrophe · 05/02/2008 17:34

DS is Elijah. Elmo and Eli.

I like Poppy!

OP posts:
nappyaddict · 05/02/2008 17:36

elmo and elijah is fine but not sure it works if you call him eli.

Astrophe · 05/02/2008 17:37

we call him eli

Still, if I can convince someone else to use the name, my work will be done
