We still don't know what we're having yet. These are the boys names on our list. Which one would you pick? I'd love to hear your comments on all the names and also if there are associations (good or bad) so we are aware of everything:

Max
Finn
Flynn
Elliott
Caspar
George
Dylan
Otto
Edward
Aidan
Edmund
Colin

Finlay
Maximilian

I'm not sure whether Flynn is cool or ridiculous. What do you say? My husband's idea and I hated it at first but it has really grown on me since. Finn seems more boring in comparison but also more classic. Sometimes I think Finlay works better but I heard in the US it is sometimes seen as girly? I just don't know whether it will age as well.

I think we will just use Max or Finn and not the longer versions but not 100% sure yet.

As for Elliott I'm a bit worried about spelling issues.

I don't know if you know the feeling but with girls names there is a new one I like almost every day whereas with boys names the list is more consistent. On the one hand it makes me feel more secure that with the boys list we won't have any regrets whereas with the girls names I often love a name a certain day and don't care much for it anymore two weeks later (we did manage to come up with a few names I always seem to love, though). But it's exciting to search for girls names too as there are so many that appeal to me!

Max
Edward
Or Colin

Flynn was my boys name if we had a boy! I love it

Stillwinston · 25/10/2022 21:15

My 2 year old is an Aidan and I personally think it's quite a unique name still - we haven't met another Aidan yet in either his nursery or any of the classes we've been to.

To be fair though your list is full of strong names so any of them would be lovely!

Shiningstarr · 25/10/2022 21:23

My son is Aidan. So obviously this is my favourite.

Shootingstar2018 · 25/10/2022 21:35

I'm completely biased as my son is Finlay (only Scottish name we agreed on). Hes Finlay middle name last name when misbehaving and Finn the rest of the time.

Salamander91 · 25/10/2022 21:47

I have a Flynn. Had nothing but compliments on it. Although we live in NI so I think most people find it a nice change to the more commonly used Finn :) I also like Max and Aiden from your list.

DemBonesDemBones · 26/10/2022 20:38

Caspar is the only one I really love. The others are inoffensive but boring.

DemBonesDemBones · 26/10/2022 20:41

Sorry I've just seen Colin. Not boring but not a name for a baby!

ScruffMuffin · 27/10/2022 16:44

Flying is my favourite by a mile! Please use it!

I also like Caspar.

AlwaysFoldingWashing · 27/10/2022 16:47

Finlay is one of my faves

Titsflyingsouth · 27/10/2022 16:49

I think you have a really nice list, Op. A lot of good choices.

My favs...

Finn /Finlay
Elliott
Aidan
Edmund

Really dislike Caspar and Otto - which sound like pet names to me. In fact I know two labradors called Otto!

Colin still sounds a bit 'wet' to me - even with the cool Bridgerton connection.

SuperCamp · 27/10/2022 16:52

I don’t like Aiden or Elliot.

slowquickstep · 27/10/2022 20:07

Colin

ScruffMuffin · 27/10/2022 21:17

Flying? I meant Flynn of course! 😂

honeyfox · 27/10/2022 21:20

Edward or Aidan are my faves.

pinkstripeycat · 27/10/2022 22:39

Flynn is lovely and unusual

Our dog is Finlay/Finn (we didn’t pick it) so I’m not a fan of this. Also it was popular in my sons primary school 6-7 yrs ago

Riverlee · 27/10/2022 22:48

Max - ok
Finn - like
Flynn - really like
Elliott - like
Caspar - ok
George - too popular
Dylan - really liked until
Otto - sounds German to me
Edward - really like
Aidan - ok
Edmund - not bad
Colin - outdated

Finlay
Maximilian
