Thoughts on Trevor

I get the feeling this is one mumsnet might have a fit over but it's the only one DH and I both really like.

I wanted something not in the top 100 but also not 'unique' and it seems like a good middle ground? It's heard of but not popular.

Middle name would be Erik after my father. Honest thoughts?

I don't like Erik but I do like Trevor.

Lullabies2Paralyze · 02/10/2022 09:14

Old fashioned but it could make a comeback as I think the main dude in an anime called Castlevania is called Trevor. (Incidentally my partner wanted Alucard which in quite like but my parents had a fit so we didn’t go for that….apparently he would have been bullied though I pointed out that any name can be a target of bullying including my own very normal common name haha)

womaninatightspot · 02/10/2022 09:16

I like it, makes me think of Trevor Noah who I’m keen on. Travis as mentioned by PP is also nice.

user16480478 · 02/10/2022 09:18

It's a cats name

ThatshallotBaby · 02/10/2022 09:19

I also know a lovely Trevor.
It’s a good name.

Enko · 02/10/2022 09:22

Not one I was thinking was due a come back yet but actually I don't mind it... if you both like it then why not.

newtb · 02/10/2022 09:24

I knew a paedophile names Trevor. Owned a sweetshop. Sorry

IsAinmDummm · 02/10/2022 09:25

I say go for it! It's unusual these days, but not unknown.

erikbloodaxe · 02/10/2022 12:53

Brian has made a comeback so Trevor will soon be seen as 'cute'. Anything is better than Brian.

KirstenBlest · 02/10/2022 12:54

Brian is fine. I like it. Not keen on Bryan or Ryan

ILoveShula · 02/10/2022 12:56

What's wrong with wearing a fleece?

AndYouCanBuggerOffAsWell · 02/10/2022 12:58

He'll get an anorak and a train spotting book for his 1st birthday

babysgotthespends · 02/10/2022 13:02

RuthW · 02/10/2022 13:04

Erik is lovely. Trevor isn't

MissMarplesGoddaughter · 02/10/2022 13:07

All the Trevors I have known have been called Trev, it's up there with Baz, Del, Bozer etc.

Cheeselog · 02/10/2022 13:08

Awful. Really drippy. If you want to have Erik as the middle name I think you need to paid it with a non-old man name as the first name or something a bit more neutral. Thomas? Peter?

JunebuginDecember · 02/10/2022 17:28

Love this name. I see it come up a lot on "What are your guilty pleasure names" threads so I think it may have a quiet, secret fan base 😉

Gr33ngr33ngr4ss · 02/10/2022 17:33

It's the name of someone grey (not in age, just in the pic of them in my head) & dull to me.

BUT it won't mean that to his peers because they won't have known Grey Trevors! Iyswim.

If you like it use it!

SpudleyLass · 03/10/2022 20:42

My husband is a 40 year old Trevor and he is just lovely. I think its cutesey in a way names like Eric aren't - my first connotation of that name is of one of the Columbine killers, sorry people.

If both you and your husband like it, you should go for it. There should be more Trevors in the world

userxx · 03/10/2022 20:44

Don't be cruel.

HairyMothballs · 03/10/2022 20:44

No. I know a couple of Trevors, and they're in their early 70s.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 04/10/2022 00:50

Terrible. Roger, Mervyn and Bernard sort of name. Don't do it!!

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 04/10/2022 00:54

Only if he is clever! Much prefer Erik .
