Rachael
Rosie
Ria
Raya
Ruby
Raven
Roxy
Rhianna
Baby girl due soon we are stuck on these names to give her for a first name. We want one starting with the letter R. Which one of these names do you like best? If there are other name suggestions that begin with R that would be helpful. Thanks

From your list I only really like Rachael and Rosie, but I think I slightly prefer the simpler Rachel spelling and I like several other names that would shorten to Rosie, especially Rosalie.

I really like Ruth, and quite like Rebecca and Rowena. Sometimes I think I like Romilly, sometimes I worry that it's a bit too out there.

Rachael and Rosie

ShirtingForkBalls · 21/09/2022 22:43

I love Ruby and Rose
Rhea is a nicer spelling imo

How about:

Rosa
Rebecca
Romilly

SkyeBlue28 · 23/09/2022 21:01

I like Ruby from your list and would also suggest Ruth and Rebecca

queeniegee · 15/10/2022 08:41

Rosie or Ria

Prefer Rose to Rosie. Rosie sounds like a name for a dog.

Rachael is ok though a little dull.

Prefer Rebekah to Rebecca (biblical spelling o believe).

Quite like Robyn.

nelliebear8 · 15/10/2022 22:05

Not a fan of any, if I had to pick it would be Rosie, but I prefer it as a nickname for Primrose, Rose, Rosalie, Rosemary etc.

My favourite R name is Rue. I also love Rose, Rosalie, Rosemary, Rosalind, Rosamund, and Rhiannon.

Zola1 · 17/04/2023 21:50

Rosa, Rose, Rosie are all nice
Loads of them sound very 90s..hate Rachel or Rebecca I'm 31 and they sound like my classmates. Ruby is very over done.

I really like Remi, Romy, Roma, Romany, Romalie, Ruiari/Rory, Reeva, River
(Reeva and River are faves)

Zola1 · 17/04/2023 21:54

Lots of people saying Rowena which to me is a Nanas name but not the pretty kind!

33goingon64 · 17/04/2023 23:19

Rosa

Would have been DS1 or DS2 if either had been a girl (obviously not both!)

soulinablackberrypie · 17/04/2023 23:30

I like Rachael from your list but would probably spell it Rachel as everyone will assume it's spelt that way anyway.

Rosie is OK, but I like Rosalie better and would possibly go for Rosalie with the option of shortening to Rosie. Kind of like Rosalind and Rosamund too, but not as much as Rosalie (and the actual meanings have nothing to do with roses!)

I love Ruth and quite like Rebecca.

Kind of like Romy and it could be short for Romilly.

Fushia123 · 17/04/2023 23:47

I love Rebecca - my daughter’s name.
Also, Ruth - my sister’s name.

I’ve taught hundreds of primary aged children. Every Rebecca has been just delightful - funny and caring.
