Thoughts on the name Indie? What middle name would you pair?

I don't see a difference between Indie and other names like Evie, Rosie, Katie ect. Only Indie is less common and has a fresher feel IMO.

Evie, Rosie, Katie etc are all just names, none are associated with countries or states India, Indiana nor do they have political associations of Independence, IndyRef2 or links to a very famous film series Indiana Jones and shortie shouting Indie!

Indie is something I'd be very wary of using for those reasons.

SNWannabe · 23/08/2022 10:51

India is nicer and Indie is a natural nn from that

mrsbitaly · 23/08/2022 10:54

I know an indie and it's a lovely name. If you love go with it there will always be someone who doesn't like the name you choose. You don't even have to have a middle name unless you plan on using it to show you mean business when your telling them off 🤣

DaisyJoy1 · 23/08/2022 11:04

I think it's got a nice sound but too faddy - got overpopular in the past few years and I think it will date awfully.

India? As in the country 🇮🇳? Why would you name your child after a country?

India is a well established name, has been used for years. There's an India in Gone with the Wind which was written in 1936. I think it's lovely.

Chaotica · 23/08/2022 11:08

As a sister for Emo?

Joking aside, I don't think it's terrible but it's a word which does have a lot of other uses.

theviewfrommywindow · 23/08/2022 11:41

My friends named their daughter Indie, it's lovely and really suits her and them.

Please don’t. It’s so try hard (we are cool parents, totally, yeah) and it will date like fuck. Give her a proper name.

It's the opposite where I am - it's a bit chavvy.

Lemonsyellow · 23/08/2022 20:53

I really dislike it. It’s a twee non-name with no class.

ClivePowermax · 23/08/2022 21:03

Is your surname is Jones then you are morally obliged to use Anna as her middle name.

Sorry to say but I really don’t like it

RaininSummer · 23/08/2022 22:53

It's an ok nickname but I can't see it as a real name.

VanillaIce1 · 24/08/2022 00:12

Bland always reminds me of Hippie's

HorribleHerstory · 24/08/2022 00:19

I don’t dislike the sound but it’s s shortening of something, and I feel like I missed something where the OP said girls name? I went back to check. I instantly thought boy, Indiana Jones, possibly Indigo. Never crossed my mind as a girl name even though I know India is usually for girls. Never crossed my mind as a full name etither rather than as a derivative form. Paired with middle names it just sounds wrong.
