I really like it.
I don’t hear of many Boys called Ben.

TeddyTonks · 19/08/2022 21:43

Lovely name

45hopperbunny · 19/08/2022 21:43

Grandad name.

Couldn’t imagine looking at a two week old baby and going ‘oh hi little Ben.’ It just doesn’t make sense to me. It’s along the lines of Victor - straight grandad name.

That’s just my opinion though

SpottyStripyDuvet · 19/08/2022 21:44

Love it! (I may be biased). Very versatile - if you like Ben there are a few longer names you can go with for official use. Easy for him to learn to read and write.

SummerLovin123 · 19/08/2022 21:44

Bit blah.

Junobug · 19/08/2022 21:46

I actually love it. However when I considered using it for dc3, a friend said it sounded like I'd got bored of naming children and just picked a name from a hat as it's a bit dull.

J0y · 19/08/2022 21:48

I think it's ageless, like Kate

DillDanding · 19/08/2022 21:48

I love it. I don’t think it’s a name that’s either dated or trendy. Just a great name.

toastofthetown · 19/08/2022 21:49

It's fine. Not a name that people will be excited about but nothing wrong with it either. Benjamin is popular (#40 in England and Wales)and has been popular for so long that he is likely to be around Bens his whole life, if popularity is a concern for you.

SpottyStripyDuvet · 19/08/2022 21:51

To those saying it's a bit blah I agree in that DH wanted something standard. Me and DB grew up with unusual names and hated it. DH and his DB more classic names and like it so we decided to go with something normal but not top 10 (think it was about 25 when DS was born).

pictish · 19/08/2022 21:51

Dull, sorry.
Inoffensive though.

Bollindger · 19/08/2022 21:53

Can I have a cuddle when little Ben arrives, adore it. We knew a little blond Ben 20 years ago.

RenegadeMatron · 19/08/2022 21:54

It’s fine. Good, solid, uncontroversial name.

IsThePopeCatholic · 19/08/2022 21:55

Lovely name.

Icequeen01 · 19/08/2022 21:56

My nephew is a Ben and I think the name suited him when he was a tiny baby and still suits him now as a thirty something dad.

20viona · 19/08/2022 21:56

Booooooring.

3ormorecharacters · 19/08/2022 21:57

To me the whole name Benjamin is so lovely that it's almost a shame to shorten to it Ben. Good solid name though with lots of abbreviations, will grow nicely with a boy/man and not date.

Hoolahulahoop · 19/08/2022 21:57

Really love it

MassiveSalad22 · 19/08/2022 21:58

It’s like the male version of Charlotte or Amy. Same as Sam. It’s fine!

IheartBTS · 19/08/2022 21:58

I have a little Ben/Benjamin (well, almost a teen, but still my baby 😁!). I love the name, and always have done.

WibblyWobblyBoat · 19/08/2022 22:00

We’ve got a Ben, officially Benjamin. We chose it as it’s multinational, clear, traditional and a strong name. Only know 1 other Ben in his school of nearly 400 pupils so clearly not so many around where we live. Had a discussion about Benedict but decided no because of Benedict Cumberbatch. Also had Sebastian on our short list, but he looked very much like a Ben when we set eyes on him!!

Whataretheodds · 19/08/2022 22:01

I've always liked it.

Benjamin
Benedict
Bennett

Enidcat5 · 19/08/2022 22:04

It's perfect 😍 Benjamin shortened to Ben is lovely. Ageless, solid, classic. I love it. My son also loves it 😚

abbey44 · 19/08/2022 22:05

I’m another one who’s always liked the name. My younger son is a Ben - it suited him as a baby, a little boy and now as a 6ft something 27-year-old. But I like traditional names, I have to admit.
