If I was having a girl at Christmas what would I call her?
If I was having a boy at Christmas what would be his name?

I've always loved the name Noelle.

Unnecessary side note: I had a little best friend called Noelle, until we were 4, and her parents moved back to Crete. Our mums became friends in hospital (both were in hospital with severe HG). I sometimes think about her and wonder if she remembers me too.

I was due on Christmas Day and was meant to be called Christina. I was several weeks early, and was called something completely different.

I’d use Christmas as a reason to use one of my favourite names, which DH has previously veto’ed - Gabriel.

Not sure about a girls name.

Nothing Christmas themed. Christmas birthdays are shit enough without your name being defined by it all year round too Confused

This. I have a friend with a late December birthday called Holly and she hates it.

Wagsandclaws · 04/08/2022 23:36

Ds was due on Christmas Day, he is called Caspar ( 3 wise men reference ).

He was early ( 30th November ) but for us it's already the Christmas season then and we are Christmas nuts in our family so he was still named Caspar.

The number of posts I've seen on here by grown adults STILL nursing a whole bunch of angst and resentment about "having a Christmas birthday" "I've NEVER HAD a proper birthday" "Nobody makes you feel special" etc. etc. makes me feel quite strongly that it's probably not a good idea to draw attention to the "birthday=Christmas" thing by choosing a festive name of any kind.

Pick a name which is not related to Christmas.

A friend of mine named her daughter Jasmine because she loved Winter Jasmine - it has beautiful yellow flowers. I thought that was lovely and a less obvious connection to Christmas.

romdowa · 05/08/2022 05:18

Natasha means born on Christmas day in Russian. Its not a name typically associated with Christmas either

OldYork · 05/08/2022 05:22

I wouldn’t! But if I HAD to, I’d go with Natalia

Christmas Birthdays don't have to be bad at all it is what you make of it. Just toying with the possibility of some names nothing set in stone. Thanks for people's suggestions!

My mum has a Christmas Eve birthday and she loves it, it’s also my favourite day of the year. She’s called Angela, Nana says she was her Christmas angel. It’s a very 1960s name though!
