Love this name. It's strong and simple.

I have a John and dc2 would have been Guy or Paul if she hadn't been a girl.

It's never been particularly fashionable so I feel it won't particularly date either.

I think it's a great name
I would associate a name like Luke with Guy.

I don’t like it at all. I looked after a baby called Guy some years ago and I just couldn’t get my head around it on him, really didn’t suit a baby at all. I think because ‘guy’ is a slightly negative way of describing an unknown man (eg: ‘some old guy at the bus stop just flashed me!’) it felt both impersonal and a bit negative to be using it as a name. I also dislike that there’s no alternative nickname that can be used for it, although I appreciate for some that could be a positive.

In the UK I wouldn't, with all the "burning the guy" that goes in around England. I can just imagine kids shouting "burn Guy on the bonfire!"

Elsewhere where it has far less of that association it's a lovely name.

Immediate association was with Guy of Gisbourne, but yeah, I loved Robin of Sherwood, so that's why. It's more nowadays been subsumed into a word for random man / random group of people, if you want that association?
