Blair for a girl? I really like it but I'm worried it might be too surname-y?

Sloane is better for a girl last name, name.
I have known two Corbyn's incidentally.

I've never liked this name much, even before Tony Blair - it just reminds me of the word "blare" as in having your music blaring out too loud!

But if it is to be used at all, I prefer it as a boy's name, which is what it traditionally is.

I would immediately think of Blair Waldorf, but then I'm a huge Gossip Girl fan.

I straight away think of Tony, of someone showing disgust (blurgh) or The Blair Witch Project

I had the exact same thoughts. Sorry OP!

It’s nice. It’s a Scottish name and is Gaelic for meadow. As for people saying it sounds like”bluegh” - maybe they should learn how to pronounce their R’s 😅

liveforsummer · 20/03/2023 07:34

Agree it's not the nicest sound - bit like bleuggh and will sound awful as a name in some accents. Also as above - Tony springs to mind immediately

I know three Blairs, two young men in their twenties and a very successful man in late 40s.
