Girls name Noa

I love the name Noa for a girl. I think itโ€™s perfect and meets all of my very fussy requirements ๐Ÿ˜†

Just a bit concerned by the popularity of the boys name Noah. Wondering if it would be an issue for the child.

Any thoughts? Or alternative suggestions welcome โ˜บ๏ธ

It will be an issue. Noah is very popular.
What do you like about it?

WednesdayStar4 · 03/06/2022 09:13

Should maybe mention that my other requirements are:

โ€ขthe name cannot end in an โ€˜eeeโ€™ sound (too matchy-matchy with surname) I.e not ebony, lucy etc
โ€ขdoesnโ€™t need to be massively obscure but would prefer to avoid top 100
โ€ขprefer to avoid a โ€˜trendingโ€™ name that would be easily dated
โ€ขit cannot have a colour meaning (too matchy with DD name)
โ€ขprefer to avoid names beginning with S

Great question!

Trying to think what I like about it - I think maybe simplicity, plus itโ€™s a clearly known and recognisable name but feels โ€˜freshโ€™ to me (for a girl), and I think itโ€™s pretty without being dainty.

Other names I like (but canโ€™t/wonโ€™t use) are Ebony and Saffron (just trying to give an idea of my โ€˜tasteโ€™).

My sister named her youngest girl Noa. Has had no issues at all.

Mumoftwoinprimary · 03/06/2022 09:26

Noah is quite popular these days.

How about Leah? Similar sounds.

SirChenjins · 03/06/2022 09:31

What about Nola? Similar to Noah/Noa but avoids any possible confusion.

Forestdweller11 · 03/06/2022 09:32

Kate Lawler's daughter is called Noa, I think it's a lovely name.

Thank you - I donโ€™t love Leah as much, I donโ€™t know why ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Thanks for the suggestion. Iโ€™m not sure why but I just like it far less with the L in there.

Nia?

Thank you for the suggestion.

I prefer it with the O. This sounds too much like Sia, Mia,Tia etc to me (I know Iโ€™m fussy).

I like it but I don't think it meets your criteria - it is trending, certainly where I live

My daughter is called Noa and I'm sooo glad we went with it. I love her name and it suits her. Yes as she gets older she may come across boy Noah's but the way that I see it is things are changing. We gave her a 'girlie' middle name so as she gets older if it's a problem for her she can use that. However she is the youngest of 4 girls and my other girls all have nicknames from their names that their friends call them anyway. I'm really glad we stuck with it now. I now see it as a girls name and find it funny when I hear a boy called it.

Oh is it? Thanks for pointing this out! I havenโ€™t noticed that it is where I am but perhaps thatโ€™s soon to change.

If you love it, use it. People will probably assume Noa is a boy on first hearing, but it won't be any more problematic than it is for girls called Charlie or Sam or Pat. Which is to say really not a big deal at all.

I really like it!
It feels different to Noah for some reason, when I say it in my head the o is slightly harder if that makes sense.
I've never met anyone with the name. I'd go for it!

Enko · 03/06/2022 09:46

I think its a pretty name.

Pieceofpurplesky · 03/06/2022 09:47

It's a lovely name and most people will know from the spelling that she's a girl

MadameDragon · 03/06/2022 09:51

My son would have been Noa if he had been a girl. In his class he has Noa, Ona, Una and Uma, so it seems that people are going for these kinds of names.

ballsdeep · 03/06/2022 09:53

Love it. Id use it. After hearing some of the names people pick on here, Noa is tame ๐Ÿ˜‚
