Which of these 4x girl names?

Really torn, looking for general consensus and some advice. We already have 1 girl (strong Irish name, husband is Irish), 1 boy - fairly generic name.

Torn between these:

Grace

Annie (husband wants Ann or Angela (no way [sorry to all Angelas]) but I think I could get away with an Annie, even if she was registered as Ann.

Nancy

Orla (Irish connection again, but don't want to overdo this either - the baby will be born in the north west, and other than the father being Irish there is no other connection!!).

Don't ask about a middle name yet! The above is difficult enough!

Nancy 😍❤️love love love this name

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 25/05/2022 00:47

Anne or Orla for me - since there's a strong Irish connection it does make sense in some ways to pick Orla although it does seem to be rising in popularity.

Grace is nice enough but a bit boring as there are so many (particularly as its a ubiquitous middle name too). Nancy is super trendy (and also not particularly nice imo, sorry) and Annie sounds a touch cutesy to me.

But Ann/Anne is an underused classic now and luckily gives you the options of both Nancy and Annie as diminutives - so she could pick for herself (like the sound of Angela actually but agree its dated).

I don't think of Annie as a baby name - it was my quite fierce Irish grandmother's name. I do have an Aunt Angela and my great grandmother was actually Angel.

mathanxiety · 25/05/2022 02:30

It was my Irish grandmother's name too, Sweepingeyelashes.
I consider it an old lady name, probably due a comeback.

Starbeach · 25/05/2022 04:23

Love Orla Grace ot Orla Ann.
I know Nancy is popular but I think it is awful

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 25/05/2022 05:01

Theoldwoman · 25/05/2022 06:35

Grace

Dont like the rest, love Annabel though.

Drew31 · 25/05/2022 19:38

Orla, or Annie — preferably short for Anna or similar.

I find Grace is boring and Nancy is twee.

samphiregarlic · 25/05/2022 19:39

Annie, congrats

Luredbyapomegranate · 27/05/2022 03:41

Anna, Anya, Aine, Annabel, Annabeth, Annalisa, Annette, Anouk, Annis/Annas, Agnes.. nn Annie or Nancy. Nancy is a nn for Anne names, same as Annie

Grace and Orla are overdone and will date. oona and hope maybe better options

CP2701 · 28/05/2022 00:39

Not quite understanding the love for Nancy. The only ones I know are old ladies!

Saw someone saying they can't imagine Annie on a grown adult. Annie Lennox! 👍

Sisisimone · 28/05/2022 00:43

Nancy is awful, truly horrible
Orla is my favourite from those 4

EmerLou · 28/05/2022 00:48

Not sure how Orla is "too irish", or the insinuation that an Irish father isn't that much of an Irish connection... surely it's about as connected as you can get without actually being born in Ireland? Plenty out there with zero Irish connection, and an Irish name. Whereas your child will actually be half Irish.

Quite nice little head nod to the fathers ancestry in my opinion, plus it's a lovely name. Personally prefer the spellings Orlagh, or Orlaith though.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 28/05/2022 00:52

Orla

Luxa · 28/05/2022 01:40

Grace

Amdone123 · 28/05/2022 04:47

I love Orla.
I do like Nancy and Annie, but in this case, Orla is perfect.

WhatDoIDoNow3 · 30/05/2022 01:48

Not Grace. It’s on its way back down. Loads of teen and early-twenties Graces around.

I like a pp’s suggestion of Anna known as Annie.
