Is this name to ‘out there’?

We’ve struggled with baby boy names and considering naming our baby if it’s a boy : ‘Reed’.
DH is American and more common there but we live in the UK.

The only Reed I can think of is the one from Fantastic Four.

Love it. It was on my list 20 years ago!

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 22/05/2022 16:36

Employment agency!!

Latenightthoughts111 · 22/05/2022 16:37

Ooooo I absolutely love it!!

girlmom21 · 22/05/2022 16:37

It's fine, especially if DH is American. It is quite an American name but not particularly 'out there'.

Does Reed the agency even still exist?

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 22/05/2022 16:41

I like it.

Gives off lake/bullrush vibes. Like a male version of Willow.

There was a Reed in Grey’s Anatomy.

Pandarinio · 22/05/2022 16:42

Nice

Goldfishmountainclimber · 22/05/2022 16:42

Fine name.

ColourfulOnesie · 22/05/2022 16:42

I know a 10 year old Reed, it’s a pretty inoffensive name

pizzaand · 22/05/2022 16:44

Reed was a girl in greys iirc

Ncwinc · 22/05/2022 16:45

It’s incredibly rare as a first name in the U.K. but I can’t think of any negative associations.

Andylion · 22/05/2022 16:50

I know of two Reids, both boys,

DolphinaPD · 22/05/2022 16:51

Reid is better.

Spencer Reid 😍

DolphinaPD · 22/05/2022 16:52

From criminal minds 😂

Yes, I took someone on from them last week. If I hadn’t I probably wouldn’t have thought of it though.

Agree that Reid is better though. Less rivery.

Justkeeppedaling · 22/05/2022 17:01

Not a good name if he grows up short and fat!

Georgeskitchen · 22/05/2022 17:21

Yes definitely Reid.
Scottish I think, correct me if I'm wrong

BanditBluey · 22/05/2022 17:22

Nothing wrong with Reed/ Reid. Also Reece is quite nice and similar

ladygindiva · 22/05/2022 17:24

I like it, but as pp says I prefer the Reid spelling.

MargosKaftan · 22/05/2022 17:29

I think i prefer Reid. But both Reed and Reid are lovely.

TrashyPanda · 22/05/2022 17:30

Makes me think of Lou Reed.

which is good

maddiemookins16mum · 22/05/2022 17:35

It always makes me chuckle when people gush at these more unusual names ‘oh love it’ ‘’it was on our list’ etc, yet they named their own wains Oliver or Grace.
However, it’s ok - have heard far worse.

Love it, reminds me of the website though!

DuchesOfSausage · 22/05/2022 17:42

I don't like it. It's ok as a surname

Roselilly36 · 22/05/2022 18:11

Just sounds like a surname rather than a first name to me.

Hulahihi · 22/05/2022 18:16

I love it. Also prefer Reid.
