This was originally my fave name for a boy (with the full name as Theodore) and has been for years, but seems super popular recently.

What are your name associations??

Theodore - ugly name and I associate it with The Odor

Theo - massively overused if you include Theodores known as Theo. Meh

Irishfarmer · 04/05/2022 10:47

I really like it. It is popular, that's up to you if it bothers you or not.

Staynow · 04/05/2022 10:49

I think Theodore is awful but I love Theo. I thing it's been popular for a long time but that wouldn't stop me using it. I'd just put Theo on the BC though.

GreatCuppa · 04/05/2022 10:52

Love Theo, it’s not massively popular at my children’s school. I know a couple of Theo’s.

mumoftinyterrors · 04/05/2022 10:55

I have a Theodore, but we call him Teddy for short.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 04/05/2022 11:03

Before it became really popular it used to remind me of Theo Huxtable from The Cosby Show.

Louise0701 · 04/05/2022 11:09

Very popular. No thoughts on it really.

HiKelsey · 04/05/2022 11:54

I liked Theodore so when they were little we could nickname Teddy then when he was older he could be called Theo and then he could decided if he preferred Theodore. But I had a girl 😅

Orphlids · 04/05/2022 12:08

Where I live, it has become so popular, that is has lost any impact. Although I’ve noticed many parents of little Theodores seem to think they have made a very brave and unusual choice. I do like the sound of it though, it’s nice and gentle. But too popular for me.

Synchrony · 04/05/2022 12:12

I've never liked Theo and vetoed it from my husband's list. I find it really wet, and also dull since its rise in popularity. Tbh I don't like most soft, vowelly names (cf Arlo, Milo etc).

I like Teddy because it reminds me of my grandad. But I know about five little Teddies so unfortunately I've also written that off.

SpaceJamtart · 04/05/2022 12:12

I like really like it but in my home town it would be pronounced Feo

wingsofabird · 04/05/2022 12:21

I really like it. Popular but only know one
You might also like Otto, Arlo, Milo or Hugo

JayAlfredPrufrock · 04/05/2022 12:23

Very very popular. And agree that everyone who uses it thinks they are being edgy.

Including a Theodora.

MassiveSalad22 · 04/05/2022 12:24

Friendly sounding, cute, also manly - works for all ages. And all professions I’d say. Hence popular.

Traveltheamericas8 · 04/05/2022 12:24

It’s a nice name but it’s far too popular. I know too many.

pinklavenders · 04/05/2022 14:47

Waaay overused and starting to sound dated...

Firebird83 · 04/05/2022 17:06

Don’t like it at all

TheDuchessOfMN · 04/05/2022 17:09

I like it, but if popularity bothers you, it’s probably the most common name at my ds’s school

UnspeakableBode · 05/05/2022 17:10

We have as a Theodore but call him Theo and very rarely call him Theodore. I love it, it wasn't as popular when we named him and in Scotland there was one other Theodore at a baby group but he was called Teddy for short, haven't met any in nursery etc since! It was rising in popularity when we chose it but I had loved it for a long time and it was the only name me and my husband could agree on!

Luredbyapomegranate · 05/05/2022 23:58

Just that it’s very popular

it’s nice enough but I would find something else

PumpkinsandKittens · 06/05/2022 00:13

Don’t like

I know 3 Theo baby boys born in last 4 months …..I’m NW

SemperIdem · 06/05/2022 13:40

It’s extremely popular and I think will date terribly for that reason.

canyoutoleratethis · 06/05/2022 13:45

Theo is incredibly popular where I am (south London). I know 6 under one. I don't mind it as a name, but I personally wouldn't chose a name that common.
