Hi

Expecting another little one later this year. Not finding out the gender but we are thinking Noor for a girl. We are Muslim and we love the meaning in Arabic. Opinions please Smile

I love it! All the ones I've known have been lovely as well.

Motherl0de · 29/03/2022 16:46

I love it! I know a Noor and it's a really beautiful name.

FelicityPike · 29/03/2022 16:50

It’s a gorgeous name.

Supersnot123 · 29/03/2022 16:52

I was going to say only OK if you're ofaan appropriate heritage lol but since you are - crack on!
Lovely name and meaning

Missingindevon · 29/03/2022 16:59

My friend is Nour, said the same but I prefer the spelling tbh

inmyslippers · 29/03/2022 16:59

It's beautiful

MangshorJhol · 29/03/2022 17:00

It’s a lovely name. I have a student called Mahnoor. Also a lovely name.

elenacampana · 29/03/2022 17:01

I used to teach EFL and had a lot of ladies from the Middle East, I always thought Noor was a lovely name whenever I got a student in with it :-)

Gowithme · 29/03/2022 17:02

I really like it - but when said knorr cook in sauce is what springs to mind.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 29/03/2022 17:08

It's lovely. And it makes me think of Noor Inayat Khan, who was the most amazing woman.

modestmama · 29/03/2022 17:41

Thank you all so much for your comments. It seems like Noor is a definite YES then which is great! So happy to hear everyone loves it. I agree, it’s very beautiful and sounds so classic. Makes me even more set on it now if little one is a girl Smile

No it reminds me of the stock pots.

RedWingBoots · 29/03/2022 18:45

Hmm There is always one - ignore.

Lots of people don't realise that lots of Arabic names are mainstream.

Yika · 29/03/2022 18:47

Beautiful name.

MangshorJhol · 29/03/2022 19:26

It’s pronounced NOOO-r (like moo) not Knorr. How can it remind you of Knorr?

Elspethelf · 29/03/2022 19:35

It’s lovely

MaebeaorNot · 29/03/2022 19:37

It is just lovely - elegant, yet sweet for a child. Easy to spell and pronounce and with a great heritage and meaning.

chesirecat99 · 29/03/2022 19:47

It's more like the word awe than moo.

It's a beautiful name, OP. I love it. Native English speakers do tend to pronounce it as Nor rather than Nour/Noor though (with a shorter vowel sound), which isn't quite as lovely. And, depending on where you live, may drop the r completely eg southern UK non-rhotic accents.

ChocolateRiver · 29/03/2022 19:51

It’s really lovely.

Daydreamsinsantafe · 29/03/2022 19:58

It’s beautiful. I know of a couple of people with the name and they pronounce it differently. One ore and the other oor. I think it’s beautiful however it’s spelt or pronounced.

SAB10 · 29/03/2022 20:01

It's beautiful - classic and elegant. Also very easy to spell and pronounce for non-Muslims if that's a consideration!

nopenotplaying · 29/03/2022 20:05

How do you pronounce it?
