Hi lovely people

Baby no 2 (a boy) is due in 2 short weeks and we still don't have a name. DH and I can't seem to agree or there is a reason we can't "use" the name.

Our daughter is called Charlotte and I tend to prefer traditional names that you can shorten when they're little.

So far we have Oliver and Joshua, but neither feel right (I may be being sensitive as I had name regret with my little girl).

Any suggestions would be really welcome!

I'm not too keen on Oliver, mainly because DD had 5 in her class in Primary and they all had to be known by both their first and family names to distinguish which one they were.

Could you use James as a middle name?

How about Alexander James or Edward James?

George James is lovely as well Smile

I’m a Charlotte and my brother is Jeremy. Not heard it used in a while and could be quite cute as a little Jeremy or Jerry. He tends to be Jerry or Jez but I still like it now.

My daughter was almost a Charlotte, it is a beautiful name. Her brothers are Jacob and Reuben.

MsAnnFrope · 12/02/2022 17:21

My first thought was Oliver!
We have Charlotte as a middle name for DD and had Benjamin and Sebastian on our boys list if we have another.

Not sure if It's been mentioned...but I like traditional names and my favourite for a boy at the moment is Wilfred, wilf or freddie for short!

SuperSocks · 12/02/2022 17:43

Charlotte is a beautiful name. It was nearly my middle name but my mum decided not to bother giving me one! I wish she had!

17caterpillars1mouse · 12/02/2022 17:44

Charlotte and Dominic

Charlotte and Leo

Charlotte and Nathaniel

Charlotte and Caleb

Charlotte and Nicholas

Tbf I really like Charlotte and Joshua

AntennaReborn · 12/02/2022 17:46

I like William, Edward, Henry, Nicholas

I think Harry, George and Oliver, although lovely, are really commonplace now (dozens of them at our local primary), so if that bothers you they may not be your best options.

Charlotte was on my girls list.

My boys names were

Joshua
Caleb
Issac
Thomas
William
Joseph
Sebastian

Ds has 2 of the above as first and middle name!

NEUserNamesNotTakenJeez · 12/02/2022 17:54

Charlotte and Harrison sound nice together imo. Charlotte I only know one child named Harrison. I think Charlotte and Henry is quite nice too. I went to school with a Henry but haven't heard the name for a long time.

There are Charlottes in all generations, but the 'classic' boys names which are around now are quite ubiquitous.
James ( of course) , Edward, Matthew, Luke have been back for a while or never went away.

Then perhaps go back 50 years or so:
David
Richard
Robert
Simon
Peter
Jonathon
Guy
Alasdair
Christopher
Charles
John
Mark
