Adley?

What do you think of Adley for a little girls name? I saw it on a baby name website and I think it is quite pretty. Is it an unusual name? Because I don’t know any, but I feel like I’ve heard of it before.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
zafferana · 19/12/2021 12:45

Very unusual, never heard it before, but similar to Hadley, which is the name of a reasonably well-known writer (Hadley Freeman) and the first wife of Ernest Hemingway (Hadley Richardson).

Do I like Adley? No, but it's your baby.

KirstenBlest · 19/12/2021 12:48

Looks like Hadley, which is better.#
I'm not keen on surnames as first names

Adley looks made up.

toastofthetown · 19/12/2021 12:52

It feels a little incomplete to me. As though someone has dropped the H in Hadley.

Dora26 · 19/12/2021 12:55

Would it be a derivation of Adelie?

SummaLuvin · 19/12/2021 13:03

Same here. Like someone with a thick northern accent saying Hadley.

Adelaide, often nicknamed Addy, is a favourite of mine, not super popular and has a similar feel to Adley.

Exactly

This!
Poetrypatty · 19/12/2021 15:16

It might be shortened to Ad which I'm not keen on

AlwaysNapTime · 19/12/2021 15:20

My daughter watches a vlog called A for Adley. Adley is a little girl. I quite like it.

TheWomandestroyed · 19/12/2021 15:44

I hate it, there are so many lovely names but that's not one of them.

MonkeyPuddle · 19/12/2021 15:46

It’s how I would say Tony Hadley. As I’m northern.

peaceinourtime · 19/12/2021 15:48

Agreed with some some of the earlier posts it doesn't look like a name let alone a word.

DoucheCanoe · 19/12/2021 16:02

There's a YouTube channel about a girl called Adley and her very annoying, wannabe famous parents.

I don't hate it but don't like it either.

Screenburn · 19/12/2021 17:36

It’s a surname, so no.

CouncilHousedAndViolentBaby · 19/12/2021 18:01

Like Radley as in the brand misspelt

Billyliarohdear · 19/12/2021 18:03

Hadley - no, but OK-ish at a push
Hadley - NO

Billyliarohdear · 19/12/2021 18:04

Adley- NO (that should read)

Courtney1987x · 19/12/2021 18:06

I like it it sounds very modern and cool!

Totalwasteofpaper · 19/12/2021 18:06

I have never heard of it so I'd qssume it was "Hadley" pronounced by someone with an Essex accent/who drops their H

The name sounds nice enough on the ear though

Thissucksmonkeynuts · 19/12/2021 18:07

A is for Adley is a god awful YouTube chanel with a screechy family with a greasy haired dad and an unfathomably enthusiastic mum. That spoils it for me.

StopGo · 19/12/2021 18:10

It's a male name. Honest in Arabic, God is just in Hebrew and judicious in English. Not keen.

TuftyMarmoset · 19/12/2021 18:11

Sounds like a brand of hotels or soaps rather than a name to me

lottiegarbanzo · 19/12/2021 18:12

Odd. Looks like 'adley (i.e. Hadley, with the H dropped).

Adeline, Adela, Adele and Adelaide are all lovely, real, recognisable, names.

Topbunny · 19/12/2021 18:13

Nice but not very feminine

lottiegarbanzo · 19/12/2021 18:14

If not a missing H then it feels like it's missing an 'e', Adeley (which could be pronounced like Adeline, or like Adrian).
