Baby girl name help!

Hi everyone. I’m having a hard time selecting a name for my second baby girl. I think Braelynn (bray-lin) is my top name, but I also really like Braylee and Brynn. DD1 is Madison if that helps. What are your opinions on these names?

OP posts:

I like Brynn best. It’s the only one I’d have spelt correctly on hearing it, and it feels more familiar than the others (like Madison) but still unusual.

Comedycook · 11/12/2021 12:09

Honestly, I think they're awful...Braelynn is my least favourite. Braylee is dreadful. Brynn is the best but I thought it was a boys name?

However, it's your baby so name her whatever you like!

Adelaide97 · 11/12/2021 12:11

The spelling Bryn is usually used for boys and Brynn is for girls.

I think Brynn is best but if I'm honest I don't like any of them, sorry, they sound made up. I think they'll all have spelling issues.

I like Madison.

If you want a B name what about Brodie

Comedycook · 11/12/2021 12:13

In that case, I'd go for Brynn then.

What about Bryony? Beatrice? Brianna?

NumberTrain · 11/12/2021 12:18

Wow. Rude! Don't like it? Don't name your kids it. No need to be so horrid. I like the one syllable of Brynn with Madison.
Madison and Brynn flows well.

The op asked for opinions. You can name your baby whatever you want obviously.
Adventing · 11/12/2021 12:23

Brynn is my favourite of your suggestions but I don't love any of them to be honest. Braylee and Braelyn are a bit clumsy in terms of pronunciation/spelling imo. I quite like Brogan, Breck and Brianna which have a similar feel. I've met girls called Brogan and Breck and they really suited their names.

lilypop2001 · 11/12/2021 12:57

Braylee is definitely a name teenagers use to name a child. How about Bailey? It sounds like Braylee, just without the R and it is far nicer.

inmyslippers · 11/12/2021 13:29

I prefer Brynn. Braylee sounds very American to me

DramaAlpaca · 11/12/2021 13:31

Brynn is the best of that bunch.

How is it rude to give an opinion when OP has asked for opinions?

The point of these threads is that people give honest (sometimes brutal) feedback on names. If you love the name anyway, you ignore it. Or it gives you things to think about. Nobody will get as honest feedback in real life about names as they do on an anonymous forum. A lot of posters appreciate that.

I haven’t posted for opinions on my (probably) chosen name for my baby, because I don’t care if everyone hates it or not. But a lot of people like the feedback

BingBongToTheMoon · 11/12/2021 13:37

All those names are too American for my tastes.
But it’s your child.

Marlena1 · 11/12/2021 16:04

I think they are nice names (not a huge fan of a lot posted on here!) I do think I prefer Bailey or Brianna though as a PP suggested. Brynn is lovely I think.

IVflytrap · 11/12/2021 21:47

Bryn is the best of them, but I think of it as solely a boy's name. The thing about double N making it feminine isn't something I've heard of. If you've read that on an online baby name site, be aware that a lot of information on those sites is completely wrong. The site owners don't fact-check, and often simply make things up for the clicks.

Not keen on the Braelynn/Braylee type names, as the Bray sound makes me think of donkeys braying!

Some suggestions if you like modern B names:
Bailey
Bronte
Bea
Bay
Betony
Britt
Bette
Bonnie
Bellamy
Brielle
Belle

Lushplease · 11/12/2021 21:50

Brynn of the three although they're not to my taste.

Luredbyapomegranate · 12/12/2021 01:12

Of the three, definitely Brynn

I do think it's a boy's name though (I don't think there's any basis for the double n being feminine) - Bronwen, Brooke, Bay, or Bethan might be better

butterbelle · 12/12/2021 11:43

All your girls names are beautiful and underused. I have a Braelynn so I’m biased. My 10 year old daughter has a girl in her class named Brynn and I think it’s lovely.

CouncilHousedAndViolentBaby · 12/12/2021 15:42

Obnoxiously American

Hattiehoops · 12/12/2021 22:40

Sorry to be brutal but they’re very American trailer trash in my opinion. Brynn is passable but people will assume she’s a boy. What about Bryony?

SaticoyStreet · 13/12/2021 07:01

I would assume you were American based on the names. I think calling them trailer trash names is a bit much. But I don’t like them. They’re just really not my style. But if you are American I can’t see an issue with any of them.

LivingOnTheVeg · 13/12/2021 07:19

I think Brynn is lovely and sounds quite classic in a way without being overused. But the other two sound made-up to me.

KirstenBlest · 13/12/2021 09:58

Braelynn - awful
Braylee - awful, makes me think of Braille
Brynn - misspelt boy's name. Bryn means hill and it's a masculine noun

Braelynn and Brae will be shortened to Brae/Bray - the noise a donkey makes

Sorry but they are all awful

WashableVelvet · 13/12/2021 10:16

Brynn is nice. I also love Brooke.

RosiePosieDozy · 13/12/2021 10:23

Brynn is quite nice. I don't like the other two names.

What about Brooke? Brooke is really pretty.
