Samuel

MolkosTeenageAngst · 03/11/2021 15:46

Samuel

I don’t like Conor with one n but Connor would be my second choice.

Don’t like Ryan, I’m a teacher and think I see it as a ‘naughty boy’ name based on some past classes and even though I know there isn’t really any link between names and personality I struggle to shake the connotation.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 03/11/2021 15:48

Conor with one N if you do go for it though. I've never met an Irish Connor, only English ones.

Cantstopthewaves · 03/11/2021 15:50

Prefer Ryan.
In order of preference
Ryan
Connor
Samuel
Conor- just doesn't look right to me here in England.

TheSpiral · 03/11/2021 15:51

Samuel

TerribleCustomerCervix · 03/11/2021 15:53

Conor, 100%.

Please don’t use the Connor spelling as suggested by an English pp. It gives me the eyeball twitch as it reads as a surname.

DoodleBelle · 03/11/2021 15:54

Samuel is best

I’m actually Welsh not English and that’s the only way I’ve ever seen it spelt here (although admittedly not a very common name), I would read ‘Conor’ as ‘Cone-Or’ to rhyme with so doesn’t look right to my eyes bur appreciate if the OP is Irish she may prefer that spelling.

Conor with one n.

Or Rory. Because magically your son will be less of a fidget if he is named anything but Ryan.

Verfremdungseffekt · 03/11/2021 16:34

Conor with one n.

And get ready for the onslaught of people who claim to be teachers who can pre-identify the 'naughty boys' based on their (curiously often Irish) names.

While Irish girls' names are viewed as mellifluous and at any rate as not indicating anything about the behaviour or character of the child.

FuggyPidding · 03/11/2021 16:35

Ryan

emmathedilemma · 03/11/2021 16:39

Samuel then Conor then Ryan

oohyoudevilyou · 03/11/2021 16:43

Conor if I was Irish.

Samuel.

Conor. Am Irish - so Connor is a surname

DramaAlpaca · 03/11/2021 19:01

Conor, because I'm in Ireland.

Not Ryan, it's every other person's surname round here.

I like Sam, but not Samuel.

cptartapp · 03/11/2021 19:16

Samuel.
Agree with pp about Ryan. Bad connotations.
Don't like Conor.

Bettybantz · 03/11/2021 19:18

Samuel is a beautiful name

Conor is ok but as PP said, about 20 now.

Not keen on Ryan
