Strong, simple and international boy names

As the title says I guess! Baby boy is shortly to be registered and I can't shake the feeling that we haven't found his name yet. Current strongest contenders are Felix and Hector. We prefer names that are not too popular (that's our discomfort about Felix, as well as the feline associations!) and the name needs to work (be pronounceable at least!) in English and French.

Please send me your inspiration! Thank you!

Ah, we have strongly considered Guy. I really like it, but think it is just too used as a term in daily life these days sadly.

I love Luc in French but not in English. Lots of names fall into that category sadly (and some into the 'work in English but not French' one!)

Some aren't usable for family reasons, such as Simon and Marc(us)

We also already have a son whose name e DS with an o. I think that makes other o ending names sound a little twee, though I do really like Ludo... (we have a close friend called Hugo, but that's great too)

You could use the French pronunciation of Guy.

I have quite a few French colleagues with primary school age kids who are called:

(Lor)Enzo
Dimitri
Victor
Micah/Mika(el)
Nicholas (nn Nico)

One has a 3 year old son called Paul which actually sounds very fresh against a nursery of Alfie’s, Archies, Harry’s etc.

Families I know who have boys and wanted names to work in French have Sebastian (possibly spelled the French way with an E, I can't remember), Adam, Theodore, Jules and Oscar

Thanks so much for your replies. Lots of lovely names. I really like Paul but have a good friend with the name so not sure I could use it. I really like Sebastian and Leo but both are too popular for my liking. Anything more unusual?

Pronounce it the French way?
KingofQueens · 23/10/2021 20:17

Claude would be my choice, I love it, but DH didn't.

Diggersandloaders · 23/10/2021 20:18

Annoyingly, this is one that sounds better in English to my ear!
