any opinions on these names would be much appreciated & any name suggestions you think we might like!

Aubree isn't a vintage girl's name - Audrey is. Aubrey was always a boy's name. Using it as a girl's name is a very modern thing. My favourite vintage girl's names are:
Audrey
Nancy
Iris
Tabitha
Mabel
Beatrix
Annie
Winnie

daisypond · 08/10/2021 07:00

I like all of those except Dollie - though Dorothy is good - and Aubree - which is surely very modern. The name is Aubrey, which is male. Audrey is good, though, for a girl.

Exactly.

I want 3 more girls to call them these (not happening!)

I think my question is what kind of vintage?! So many of these names are currently popular so it's also whether you want something that fits the 2020s vibe like Audrey, Pearl, Hazel, Ava, Eliza, Olive, or whether you're looking for something like Joyce, Barbara, Joan that screams vintage. As you like Beatrice and Penelope I'm assuming it's the former category so there are lots and lots of options just looking at the current top 100 or 200 names.
The other comment I'd make is that Cecilia is incredibly posh and Aubree is incredibly new/American/popular with young parents so you need to think a bit more wbich type of style is more you.

scottishnames · 08/10/2021 17:40

Harriet is within the top 50 at the moment and Hattie has been rising fast (within the top 250).
If you'd like to check on the popularity of names, this site is accurate and very helpful:

Agree with all the earlier posters that Aubree/Aubrey (however spelled) is a male name, and has been so for hundreds of years. It literally means 'King of the Elves'.

I like all your list except for Aubree and Dollie. That's usually a nickname for vintage Dorothy (which I like) or (in Scotland) for Dolina or Donaldina.

Standrewsschool · 08/10/2021 17:52

Not keen on Dolly or Aubree, like the other names.

Other names-
Betty
Dorothea
Florence
Gwendolyn
Elsie
Esme
Mary
Cicely

Sheila
Doris
Dorothy

Dolly is a better spelling and Aubree is awful

NewlyGranny · 08/10/2021 19:00

Dottie short for Dorothy or Dorothea?
Or Dora for the same?

theflippantpenguin · 08/10/2021 19:01

Dollie/Dolly is awful. It screams baby-as-cute-accessory rather than future-powerful-adult.
