What are your opinions on this girl's name.

Pronounced Noah? I'm not keen on it really.

MatildaIThink · 06/10/2021 12:32

No to Noa

ilovemykids5 · 06/10/2021 12:34

Yes pronounced Noah.

It's quite a common boy's name now but I've never heard of a girl with the name. If you don't put an h on the end people won't know how to pronounce it.

TheWonderCat · 06/10/2021 12:36

I love Noah, but not Noa as a girls name.

MCMelon · 06/10/2021 12:36

Lovely name and I think it's quite clear how to pronounce it.

BakingOfTheFoodCats · 06/10/2021 12:37

No

CaptainMyCaptain · 06/10/2021 12:37

Imagine her in the future giving her details over the phone - she'll have to say 'It's Noa without an h' every time.

B1rdinthebush · 06/10/2021 12:38

I went to school with a Noa, it's a lovely name. It's Hebrew and very popular in Israel.

moriadne · 06/10/2021 12:39

Lovely name. I think it's also used in Brazil.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 06/10/2021 12:42

The fact that Noah is currently so uber-popular for boys would put me off it.

SkankingMopoke · 06/10/2021 12:45

I like it: it looks pretty written down and I think the pronunciation is clear. BUT I wouldn't choose it as it is very much cemented here as a boy's name, and would cause a constant need to correct people. I'm actually a fan of unisex names, but I don't think Noa/Noah is known or accepted in that way in the UK the same way Rowan, Robyn/Robin, Charlie, Ashley etc are.

Gloschick · 06/10/2021 12:53

Would you consider Nola?

MirandaBlu · 06/10/2021 13:06

I love it. I know a few American Noas, one Mexican, and one Israeli. It's a completely different name from Noah - different Hebrew spelling, different etymology, different pronunciation (although the same as Noah in English). The Hebrew meaning is usually listed as movement or motion, but it's often used with connotations of uprising, groundswell, revolution, political and social change and progress.

Thatsplentyjack · 06/10/2021 13:08

Is that a name? I'm sure it's Noah, generally used for a boy.

Darceyhemingway · 06/10/2021 13:20

I know a little girl Noa I like it

Yika · 06/10/2021 13:20

I like it. Its simple and pretty. It’s well used in the Netherlands as well as Israel I think. I was taken aback when first introduced to a girl Noa but quickly got used to it.

TopCatsTopHat · 06/10/2021 13:24

I think it will give her frequent annoyance if she lives in the UK though its common elsewhere it is virtually unheard of here and easily causes confusion. If she's a feisty sort she might deal with that without much bother but if she's sensitive it could be a lot more bothersome for her.

Marcipex · 06/10/2021 13:29

I know it’s a girls name, but Noah is so popular now that it will cause constant confusion. If you’re in the uk, anyway.

Blubells · 06/10/2021 13:37

Noa is beautiful. I know a 10 year old Noa.

Blubells · 06/10/2021 13:38

Very popular girls name in Israel.

revampneeded · 06/10/2021 13:44

There's also the French Noémie, which is pretty?

groovergirl · 06/10/2021 13:46

Hmmm. How about Noella? Or Noemie, the French version of Naomi?

IShoveLula · 06/10/2021 13:48

No No No
Noah is overused for boys as it is and just sounds like No-Ah.
Noa will be assumed to be Noah

HollyHocks13 · 06/10/2021 13:51

I love it, it's my niece's name. She lives in the US and it's more popular there. It's a Hebrew name and also Spanish I think..
