Sebastian nn Seb

Augusta1 · 20/09/2021 09:56

Cameron. There are so many Sebastians around at the moment. It’s also a bit of a “wet” name.

Brokensunflower · 20/09/2021 10:03

They are very different in terms of social class. I think Sebastian is more middle class and Cameron a bit more of a working class name.

I think Sebastian is quite cute.

SleepEatPoopRepeat · 20/09/2021 10:25

@Brokensunflowermay I ask where about you are located roughly as I have never come across this opinion before and wondering if it’s a north south thing?

Sebastian - in my opinion there's a reason it's popular.

I personally don't like Cameron at all

MrsBungle · 20/09/2021 10:28

Cameron. Sebastian is very wet.

FreeBritnee · 20/09/2021 10:30

Sebastian is hugely popular now. So Cameron.

Probablyinpain · 20/09/2021 10:33

Cameron. But I'm biased because I have one. Regularly gets shortened to Cam which I like too.

SeanChailleach · 20/09/2021 12:55

Cameron is from Cambryn meaning a Cambrian person. They spoke. P-Celtic language and lived in Britain before the Romans.
Crooked nose is a false etymology invented for satire.

TatianaBis · 20/09/2021 15:27

If you're Scottish Cameron makes sense.

leavesthataregreen · 20/09/2021 15:33

I like both but prefer Cameron because the two I've known are particularly lovely boys. Also, I love Scottish boys' names.

Roguehair · 20/09/2021 15:36

Definitely Cameron. Sebastian is such a wet name. The Camerons I know are bright, popular boys(don’t know any female ones) and the Sebastians I have come across are snivelling little mummy’s boys. Obviously this is just my personal experience.

Roguehair · 20/09/2021 15:41

@Brokensunflower

They are very different in terms of social class. I think Sebastian is more middle class and Cameron a bit more of a working class name.

I think Sebastian is quite cute.

Where are you getting that from? Surely it’s more of a regional thing. Plenty of Cameron’s in Gordonstoun and St Andrews!
driftcompatible · 20/09/2021 15:50

How can someone describe Sebastian as a wet name? It means revered and is a very strong sounding name you can imagine on anyone from a lawyer to an artist.

Cameron reminds of me David Cameron and means crooked nose.

Blubells · 20/09/2021 16:05

How can someone describe Sebastian as a wet name?

Surely it's a valid viewpoint? Sebastian sounds soft and a little frilly. and Seb reminds me of sebaceous (oily).

The op is hopefully looking for honest opinions?

soontobeamama · 20/09/2021 16:07

Cameron

RoseMartha · 20/09/2021 16:08

Cameron

PonyPals · 20/09/2021 16:11

Sebastian! A great name and nn Sebby is cute.

YorkshireIndie · 20/09/2021 17:07

Sebastian but then I could be bias as my LO is a Sebastian

WheelieBinPrincess · 20/09/2021 17:39

Sebastian bit Im biased as six day old DS is a Sebastian. I know it’ll get shortened to Seb or Sebby, fine by me. My brother has nicknamed him Seabass 🙈

Anyway he suits it, it’s not frilly in my opinion at all.

EdgeOfACoin · 20/09/2021 17:57

I'm in the South East and agree that Cameron has more of a working class vibe (I have to say I really like both names).

There are more spelling variations with Cameron that I've seen, eg Kamran, Kam'ron etc.

That said, I think it probably does vary from region to region.

TheHouseILiveIn · 20/09/2021 18:00

I love Cameron

Brokensunflower · 20/09/2021 18:17

I'm in Wales now but originally Shropshire. So neither north or south Grin

manhattenrain · 20/09/2021 19:24

Sebastian! Though I don't like the nickname Bash as others have suggested. Much prefer Seb.Smile

TatianaBis · 21/09/2021 10:53

What posters mean by wet is middle class I think.
