I've got a Charlotte who is awesome. We call her Lottie as I didn't like Charlie as a nickname. I hadn't realised the royal connection until months after she was born. Had a few people say "aww wee princess Charlotte" when she was first born and I used to smile and think "yes she is just a wee princess" not making the connection 🤦

We chose it as I wanted a name that worked for a child and an adult. I can't stand names that either need to be grown into or that you outgrow

MsSquiz · 12/09/2021 07:15

I have a Charlotte Grace so I'm biased, but I love it. It's classic and suits all ages

Rainbowqueeen · 12/09/2021 07:15

Have always liked it. Not keen on Charley

ouchmyfeet · 12/09/2021 07:16

I love it, if I'd ever had a daughter i spud have called her Charlotte. The royal connection would put me off it now.

@LadybirdsAreFab

I love it but it is my daughter's name. She is 12 now and no one shortens it, she doesn't shorten it either. She has been asked if she was named after Princess Charlotte, she looks at them and says, I am 12, she is 6, what do you think. We didn't think about the length of the name and gave her a long middle name and our family name is double barreled (from my husband's side, not my family name). She has 28 letters in all which is a pain when filling in forms.
My daughter is 13 and gets asked the same especially as they have one of the same middle names too! She replies 'no the royals stole my name' Grin We don't shorten it and neither does anyone else, I love the name and it suits her and goes well with her siblings

I realise it's been popular for a very long time but I've always liked it.

Vallmo47 · 12/09/2021 07:21

Timeless. Traditional. Beautiful.

Lsjdjfjdh · 12/09/2021 07:28

Ditto!

olivermcfuddling · 12/09/2021 07:33

It is, as others have said, timeless and beautiful and classic.
My daughter is named after the book "charlotte sometimes" which I love.

The PP who said it is very 90's is very wrong...its very hard to date a Charlotte. my name is clearly from the 70's but charlotte could be any age.
Whilst not unusual it is not over used.

Tulips15 · 12/09/2021 07:35

Its ok.
My DSis is called it, mid 30s, always known as Lottie.

CheekyAFAIK · 12/09/2021 07:38

It's in the same boat as Harriet, Jennifer, Georgina for me. 80s, a bit conventional and stuffy. Probably Boden-wearing Tory voters with a Labrador. That kind of vibe.

Weedsorwishes · 12/09/2021 07:41

Its a beautiful name. Not keen on any nicknames though

Wole · 12/09/2021 07:42

It's nice

NortieTortie · 12/09/2021 08:01

Not for me. There were a ton in my class at school so it does feel somewhat dated.

Dumpedwife · 12/09/2021 08:02

Classic pretty and traditional.

Chunkymenrock · 12/09/2021 08:08

Utterly boring and as dull as ditchwater.

Roselilly36 · 12/09/2021 08:12

I love it, classic & timeless. Met a gorgeous little Charlotte, just yesterday. Such a lovely, friendly little soul, she was about 4. Always liked the name, surprised it isn’t more popular.

Pyewackect · 12/09/2021 08:18

Love it. Called my youngest Charlotte.

LookAtMoiPloise · 12/09/2021 08:19

Yawn

Wapawapa · 12/09/2021 08:19

Beautiful. With Lottie as a NN

EishetChayil · 12/09/2021 08:20

Overused and quite common now.

The "-lotte" part is ugly, and the nickname Lottie is very unpleasant.

rosy71 · 12/09/2021 08:24

I think it's a lovely name. I dont think it's ever been that popular but is one if those names where's there's always one or two. I knew one at school in the 80s.

HappydaysArehere · 12/09/2021 08:25

Love it. It’s an old fashioned, timeless and pretty name. You won’t be able to stop some people shortening it but you can keep it as Charlotte and usually the family will follow.

Toddlerteaplease · 12/09/2021 08:30

My favourite girls name.

Thislittlekitten · 12/09/2021 08:31

I’m biased as my DD is a Charlotte with no shortening.

I think it’s a timeless name that suits all ages.
