Hi, I’ve just been drawn to the name Raven but wondering if it will carry well into adult hood?
And do I need to wait to see if she has dark hair? (Both DS and DD have brown hair taking after DH).

Oh no....horrible association! Really dislike it!

Of the three names, I like Faith the most but wouldn't pick any of them for a baby tbh.

HateJudgmentalPeople · 04/09/2021 23:52

I think it’s a beautiful name, it’s different without being ridiculous and no, she doesn’t need black hair to be called Raven Grin

Rozziie · 04/09/2021 23:52

@SleepingStandingUp

I love Raven. DS goes to school with a Raven. Very blonde, shy and quiet.

Also met twin girls Luna and Raven which is so cute

Luna is nice! Quite different, also a bit hippy/alternative but less 'dark' than Raven.
KurtWilde · 04/09/2021 23:52

I love it, but then I have a Raven so I'm biased. She loves her name and gets complimented on it.

Miliao · 04/09/2021 23:58

But that’s so Raven!

Marguerite2000 · 05/09/2021 00:01

My first thought was a WWE male wrestler called Raven.

Nextchapterofmybook · 05/09/2021 00:03

Sounds like raving to me

Undertheoldlindentree · 05/09/2021 00:16

Wendy is pretty and Wen is a nice shortening.

KimDeals · 05/09/2021 00:17

I just think of the bird and it’s a fairly ugly bird - I wouldn’t want to be named after one. They really are one of the least attractive looking birds!

converseandjeans · 05/09/2021 00:28

It makes me think of a bird

lottiegarbanzo · 05/09/2021 00:33

No.

I would very much not want to be called Raven. It's like a nickname, a cartoon name.

Large, noisy, menacing carrion feeder. Shortens to Rave. No thanks.

Wen = cyst. Not nice.Confused
RosieCockle · 05/09/2021 00:49

Skanky! But just my opinion.

Lemonades · 05/09/2021 00:49

Have you seen teen titans?

IndecentCakes · 05/09/2021 00:55

Reminds me of that Scottish bloke off CBBC.

msssm · 05/09/2021 01:11

Love it. Strong and feminine.

Classica · 05/09/2021 03:25

@Undertheoldlindentree

Wren is the 2020's version of Dawn or Gail.
StartupRepair · 05/09/2021 04:10

Someone somewhere may call her ravin' lunatic. Or ravin' feminist. Maybe it's not so bad. It is hard to see the common link between the 3 names you are considering. If you like Faith, have you considered Honor?

garlictwist · 05/09/2021 05:21

Would you like to be called Raven? I certainly wouldn't!

onelittlefrog · 05/09/2021 05:53

I sort of like it but I think it's one of those names that the person might feel they have to live up to somehow. It has an image associated with it.

It's possible that the person really won't "suit" their name as they grow up.

When thinking of names I always thing "Would I like to be called X?" - I wouldn't like to be called Raven.

MajorNeville · 05/09/2021 06:01

Gary Numan has a daughter called Raven.

CircleofWillis · 05/09/2021 06:50

I love the name Raven. No negative or dark associations for me and I am (fairly) well read.

jozipozi31 · 05/09/2021 06:58

I find it sinister. I don't know why.

So I'd avoid it. There are so many other names.

littleburn · 05/09/2021 07:32

It's not the nicest looking or sounding bird and has traditionally been a bad omen, plus the whole gothic Edgar Allen Poe "quoth the raven 'nevermore'"association! (And the Simpsons take on it Grin).

How about Poe....
